Remember last month's report saying Chevrolet will restrict an array of Camaro Z/28 parts to prevent aftermarket cloning and preserve the muscle car's exclusivity? It was all but good news to customers hoping Chevy->ke199 will release a few visual and drivetrain Z/28 upgrades for the regular Camaros->ke248.

Well, we're back on the matter to let you know that GM->ke1024 will eventually offer nine performance packages that will add some Z/28 bells and whistles to the regular Bowtie-badged pony car. That's the word from Click past the jump to read more about the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28., who adds that some of the bundles will also feature parts that aren't available as individual components.

Specifically, the Z/28 suspension kit will also come with spool-valve dampers, springs, and anti-roll bars, while the helical differential will be paired with an integrated heat exchanger. Additionally, drivers owning a 2012 model year or newer Camaro will also be able to order the Z/28's cold-air intake, exhaust manifold (V-8 models only), brake cooling ducts, cat-back exhaust, and Recaro Seats.

What's more, it appears that Chevy is also rolling out a body package that includes the Z/28's front splitter, rear spoiler, and underbody tray that allows users to take their Camaro even closer to the Z/28 in terms of aesthetics. Of course, they won't be able to build a perfect clone of the Z/28 without a crate engine and the parts Chevrolet has restricted, but it's better than nothing, right?

Pricing for these packages is not available yet, but we'll be right back as soon as Chevy Performance spills the beans.

Why It Matters

By restricting some Z/28 parts but offering other components in Performance package, Chevrolet is obviously trying to keep both sides happy. Camaro Z/28 owners will get to enjoy the exclusivity they bought for $75,000-plus, while regular Camaro owners will now be able to customize their ride even more. Everybody wins.

Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

Already sold out for the 2014 model year, the Camaro Z/28 was conceived as the most track-capable Camaro to date, with Chevrolet focusing on weight reduction, and stability-enhancing components. The muscle car->ke507 is motivated by a naturally-aspirated, 7.0-liter, V-8 engine that cranks out 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque. Although it lacks the horsepower provided by the supercharged ZL1, the Z/28 is the fastest Camaro to ever lap the Nürburgring at 7:37.48 minutes.
