Subaru is changing rear-seat entertainment forever with the Starling Entertainment Anywhere kit that offers two iPads, Harman Kardon Bluetooth headphones, and two Otterbox iPad cases for a price of $970.

There’s something appealing about Subaru’s Starlink Entertainment Anywhere kit. For the price that it’s being offered, it’s going to cost less compared to buying all of the items separately. Take the two iPads, for example. The price for both of them sits at $658. Throw in the two Harman Kardon headphones (around $250 each) and the iPad cases (almost $100 each), and you’re looking at a total cost of almost $1,400, taxes included. For its part, Subaru’s only asking $970 for the whole kit. That’s a pretty good deal that would be even better if the automaker threw in some car mounts.

But, it’s hard to nitpick the package because part of its selling point is the ability to take the iPads anywhere. That's a luxury that doesn't exist with permanently mounted screens in the headrests of the front seats.

The Starling Entertainment Anywhere kit is available for all Subaru customers, but when optioned in the 2019 Subaru Ascent, there's also an in-vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot. Other Subaru models are expected to get the same capability in the future. About the only downside to buying the kit is that you can only buy it during and after purchasing a Subie, or after a lease.

If you think that you can score this package on-the-cheap without having to buy a Subaru, you’re out of luck.
