To be honest, I did not see this coming. With the Paris Show just around the corner, the SQ2’s unveiling today was a bit surprising. A happy surprise, I mean. The smallest crossover from the Audi stable just got pumped up with more power. The explosive engine is borrowed from the S3 and comes with a basket of performance-increasing additives.

2019 Audi SQ2 Overview

The Audi SQ2 gets an eight-slat single frame grille. It also gets LED headlights and taillights. The Audi SQ2 rides on 19-inch tires in top-spec from. S Sport Suspension finds its place under the SQ2’s belly, which makes it 20 mm shorter than the standard Q2. The front bumpers get air dams that are quite big, while the rear bumper gets a quad exhaust setup. The air dams on either side of the bumper are huge in size. The car is also aerodynamically sorted with a drag co-efficient of 0.34. The SQ2 also gets bigger 340 mm brake discs up front and 310 mm discs in the rear, both with optional S-labelled red callipers.

On the inside, The SQ2 is offered with a center armrest, sport seats, a sport multifunction steering wheel with paddles, and heads-up display, to name a few. The seats are a combination of leather and fabric, and the dash and door sills get silver inserts. The digital instrument panel is a 12.3-inch screen offering different views. The 8.3-inch MMI touchscreen supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and comes with navigation, voice control, and a Wi-Fi hotspot for passengers. A 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system is also present.

The Quattro all-wheel-drive system is linked to a dual-clutch, seven speed S tronic gearbox. The car dashes from a naught to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds before topping out at an electronically-governed speed of 155 mph.

The new Audi SQ2 will be showcased at the Paris Motor Show next week. In the U.K., deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2019. There's no word as to when it'll arrive in the U.S. What are your initial impressions of the new Audi SQ2? Share them with us in the comments section below.
