The Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid is getting a shot of personality courtesy of the new S Appearance Package that costs just $595. The new package adds plenty of new elements, giving the van a more aggressive appearance that should do the trick in shedding the physical stereotypes normally associated with minivans. The option will be made available in the fall when 2019 models go on sale.

To Chrysler’s credit, the Pacifica Hybrid actually looks like a sporty minivan. It might be strange to characterize a minivan as “sporty,” but give credit where it’s due because the Pacifica is visually appealing. That said, just because it can already hold its own aesthetically, that doesn’t mean it can’t get better. That’s where the S Appearance Package comes in.

The new option offers a lot of visual upgrades to the exterior and interior of the minivan. Outside, headlight eyebrow accents are added, which looks good even if it sounds a little bit creepy. The package also includes gloss black trim on the grille surround, black roof rails, and a set of 18-inch wheels that are finished in what Chrysler calls “Black Noise.” It’s really just a semi-gloss black shade, but props to Chrysler for at least trying to sell its product with fancy names like this one.

The Pacifica’s interior also gets a lot of the good stuff. The seats, for example, receive Light Diesel Gray trim and an “S” logo to denote the name of the package. The wheel also gets in on the Light Diesel Gray through the stitching while other sections are finished in Piano Black. The instrument panel and door trim get their own creatively named shade, called Anodized Ice Cave. Last but not least, the center console, A-pillar, overhead console, headliner, sun visors, and lighting bezels all get the black treatment. The result is an evocative minivan that definitely gets higher marks in visual sportiness and aggression.

Sadly, the S Appearance Package does nothing to the minivan’s engine. The good news is that it really doesn’t need to. The Pacifica Hybrid already packs a 3.6-liter V-6, a pair of electric motors, and a 16 kWh lithium-ion battery. Altogether, the hybrid powertrain produces an impressive 260 horsepower with fuel economy numbers approaching 84 mpg and an electric power range of 33 miles.

According to Chrysler, there’s been no shortage of people who have bought the S Appearance Package for the standard gas-powered Pacifica. The success of that option may have even pushed Chrysler execs to build a similar package exclusively for the hybrid version of the minivan. Whatever its reasons are, Chrysler’s S Appearance package appears to be worth the $595 you’ll end up paying for it should you want to have one for your Pacifica Hybrid.
