The Renault Kadjar facelift comes three years after it was launched and, while it definitely looks refreshed, it just doesn't live up to the hype it created back when it was launched in 2015. For 2019, the Kadjar even receives Renault’s latest engine, along with some changes to the inside and outside.

Exteriors Get Slight Tweaks

There are even three different wheel sizes to choose from – 17, 18, and 19-inch. It retains the familiar C-shape lights, which is now becoming a common phenomenon on Renault models. This time around, though, the LED turn indicators are integrated into the LED daytime running strip - something that gives the whole car a premium look. On the higher trims, LED fog lamps come as standard and reduce the energy consumption six times compared to the conventional halogen units.

The Cabin Improves In Overall Quality

On the inside, the 2019 Renault Kadjar gets a few additions. The air conditioning controls are found below this touchscreen. Renault claims to have used higher quality material all over the cabin. The air vent surrounds, door handles, and inner door panels get revised too. It's fresh but leaves a little more to be desired.

Under The Hood

The engine is fitted with a gasoline particulate filter to help reduce emissions compared to the model it replaced. The engine will be offered in two different states of tune; 140 horses and 160 horses can be had with a six-speed manual or a dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The facelifted Kadjar will be offered with two diesels – a Blue, dCi, 115 with `15 horsepower or a Blue dCi 150 that generates 150 horses. It will be available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. These engines are carried over from last year but updated and now feature a Selective Catalytic Reduction system. Depending on the engine choice, a manual transmission and a dual-clutch automatic system will be available.

Our Take

The 2019 Kadjar is a decent overall package, but there’s nothing exceptional about it. Back when it was launched, the Kadjar looked like a strong contender with a lot o USPs; but does it have enough to take on the competition today? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
