The 2019 Chicago auto show may have stolen the headlines this week, but if it's new Toyota Supra information that you're after, there was nothing really new for you at the show. However, Toyota did reveal what its idea for a hotter Supra GR could look like with what it called the Supra Performance Line Concept that it debuted at 2019 Osaka Auto Messe in Japan.

Keep in mind, though, that this particular concept may not end up an actual production model and that it could merely be a showcase of the many exterior bits Toyota will sell you under the TRD sub-brand.

What are these exterior bits? Well, they probably didn’t strike you the first time you saw the photos. I’m talking about the front bumper, complete with a splitter that has fins at its ends; the rear bumper continues the same design theme, but it integrates the upright fin design into the rear diffuser setup. The side skirts also have fins, and they give the car a very cohesive (and considerably sportier) look all around that’s completed by 19-inch forged aluminum wheels.

The press release on the dedicated TRD site for Japan also shows that the Super Performance Line Concept also wears different side blades on the doors, as well as a ducktail spoiler that is Toyota says is not just there for show. In fact, all components shown do have an aerodynamic purpose - they apparently reduce lift at high speed, and that should improve not only stability at high speed but also high-speed cornering too.

We’re honestly still waiting for Toyota to also inject a bit of extra power into the six-cylinder Supra. And, since this is called a concept and no mention of extra power was made, maybe something is planned to that end as well.
