BMW has only just pulled the wraps off its new X7 large SUV, the flagship high rider in its range, and the rumor mill is already churning out reports that a coupe-like model based on it will debut as early as next year - it will be called the X8.

2020 BMW X8

Our spies have yet to provide us photos of camouflaged X8 prototypes, but we expect the production model (if it indeed it turns out to be a real thing) won’t differ too much from this quick rendering I whipped up.

Unlike its two smaller even-numbered X brethren, though, the X8 may also feature an updated front fascia, but I really don’t know what they could do to it to make it bolder than it already is.

The range of engines will probably be identical to that of the more practical, seven-seater X7 - kicking off with a 40i three-liter turbocharged model, but in spite of the X8’s less practical and spacious interior, it will carry a price premium over it.
