Just a few years ago Bentley introduced the Bentayga SUV, essentially an ultra-luxurious Audi Q7 with the look of a Continental GT on the outside. The model was Bentley’s first SUV, and now the brand is ushering in its electric future with the Bentayga Hybrid – all the good looks and luxurious interior with a V-6 and an electric motor hidden under the metal. It’s good for 31 miles in EV mode and takes on a few other changes, as necessary, to facilitate its electric nature. It debuts at the Geneva Motor Show, but we're getting an early look at all the finer points.

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid in a Nutshell

The Bentayga Hybrid is nearly the same inside and out aside from a few little changes. On the outside, a new charging door has been installed opposite of the fuel-filler door. Inside, it features an updated infotainment system and driver’s information panel, the latter of which now includes “E Motion” information – a source of performance, consumption, and battery life.

The instrument cluster is updated too and now displays a dial that indicates whether the Bentayga is in EV mode or will show engine speed when the engine is in use. The coolant temperature gauge gets the axe in place of a battery status dial. Furthermore, the automatic start\stop button has been replaced by a new dial that allows you to select between the three drive modes – EV Mode, Hybrid Mode, and Hold Mode. Finally, a Charging Station Finder will help hunt out charging stations near you and plug them into the onboard navigation system.

Bentley Bentayga Hybrid Performance

The Bentley Bentayga is powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 that’s paired with an E Motor, a device that operates as both a motor and generator. No details as far as performance goes have been released, however, the Bentayga Hybrid does have an all-electric range of 31 miles. On a standard 110-volt charger, those 31 miles come in about 7.5 hours. If you opt for the “industrial charger” the battery takes a full charge in 2.5 hours. The Bentayga Hybrid is also Bentley’s most efficient, registering just 75 grams of CO2 per kilometer. Fuel economy and other performance figures have yet to be announced.

Bentley Bentayga Hybrid Pricing

The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid goes on sale in the second half of 2018 in certain markets, and pricing has yet to be announced. With the non-hybrid model going for around $230,000, you can expect the hybrid version to command at least $250,000.
