We've recently discussed about the possibility of BMW making an M version of the X7 in a speculative review. While such a model has yet to be confirmed officially, BMW is testing its full-size SUV on the Nurburgring, a sign that a performance version is indeed underway.
We can't tell whether this X7 is of the M variety due to the camo, but we can tell that it uses a twin-turbo V-8 engine and that it's pretty quick. It also seems to be very agile and stable on the track's tight turns, which is surprising for an SUV this big.
The brand-new X7 will be unveiled by the end of 2018, most likely at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. We already know that it will be offered with both an inline-six or a V-8 engine and will generate around 340 horsepower and 460 horsepower, respectively. There will also be a diesel engine offered in both Europe and the United States. The X7 M, likely to arrive in 2019, could get a revised version of the BMW 8 Series' V-8 engine, tuned to at least 550 horsepower.
The X7 will compete against the Mercedes-Benz GLS, also due for a redesign, the Lincoln Navigator, and the Cadillac Escalade.
