The Dodge Durango GT Snarls at the Competition Thanks to the SRT-inspired Rallye Appearance Package

Sportier appearance, V-6 fuel economy

It's been only two months since Dodge launched a new Mopar package for the Durango, and now there's a new bundle on the table. While the Mopar pack was created for the range-topping SRT model, this upgrade is offered for Durango GT, which sits at the midpoint of the lineup. Called the Rallye Appearance Package, the new bundle is inspired by the sportier R/T and SRT models and was designed to give customers the fuel efficiency of the Pentastar V-6 and the looks of something powered by a V-8.

The appearance update covers only the front end of the SUV, but it has what it takes to give the Durango GT a sportier look. Both the grille and the bumper are taken off the SRT model, which in turn is inspired by the Challenger Hellcat. The familiar "crosshair" grille was ditched in favor of thinner element with a honeycomb mesh and an additional vent below.

The bumper feels more massive thanks to the larger grille in the center, also featuring a honeycomb mesh, and the smaller side vents with rectangular foglamps (the GT has round units). The mundane engine hood of the GT model was replaced with the performance hood of the SRT model, which includes a cold air duct in the middle and two heat extractors onto the sides.

Customers who want to add more unique features can opt for the available Blacktop package, quite popular with the Durango, and the Brass Monkey wheels for an extra splash of color. Speaking of colors, there seven hues available for the exterior, including Vice White, White Knuckle, Octane Red, Redline Red, DB Black, Granite, and In-Violet.

Nothing changes under the hood, where the GT's standard 3.6-liter, Pentastar, V-6 engine carries over with the same 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the V-6 helps the GT tow a best-in-class 6,200 pounds.

The Rallye Appearance Package costs $1,495. The Durango GT retails from $37,795, so the GT Rallye will set you back $39,290 before other options.
