There are markets in the world that aren’t getting as many Honda Civic Type Rs as they’d like. Some aren’t even getting any to begin with. Well, worry no more, because Honda is presenting a possible solution at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. The “solution” is called the Small RS Concept, a car that was conceived as part of a goal to envision what a small sports hatchback should look like. In that sense, consider the Small RS Concept as “mission accomplished” for Honda.

For the record, the Honda Small RS Concept isn’t coming to America. That’s completely out of the question. It might not even make it as a production model anywhere in the world. Bummer, right? What it is, though, is an idea that Honda wanted to come to life, even if it’s just in concept form. If anything, the Small RS Concept is actually a preview of the new Brio, a cheap compact car that’s popular in Southeast Asian markets like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Regardless of what Honda’s intentions are, it’s hard to take your eyes away from the concept because of how incredible it looks. Sure, it’s not imposing in the same way as the Civic Type R is, but when was the last time you saw a micro Honda get decked in legitimate R-spec aerodynamic bits? A long time? Never? The concept even has a number of gloss black accents, giving it a nice premium look. Combine that with the horizontal LED daytime running lights, extended side skirts, thin wing mirrors, and muscular body creases, and you have a car that looks far more menacing than it has the right to be. And the small air intake on the hood, aggressive rear diffuser, and obscenely large rear wing? Cherries on top of the proverbial sundae.

Honda didn’t say how much power the Small RS Concept is able to generate, but we do know that the standard Brio comes with a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 100 horsepower and around 80 pound-feet of torque. It’s not enough to make a statement in any kind of racing environment, but if it looks as sporty as the Small RS Concept, it might not need to.

There’s no word on plans to turn the concept into a production car, but it must be noted that Honda actually has RS versions of the Jazz, Mobilio (an Asian utility vehicle), and Brio. If you live in this region, though, cross your fingers that it happens. Regardless if it’s a concept or not, the Small RS Concept is going to be a hit wherever it’s sold.
