This was Jaguar’s time to shine; maybe even score a touchdown with no one else in sight. And still, Jaguar missed its target. Jaguar has released the EPA-estimated figures for the 2019 I-Pace, and the 234-mile range is a little less than what we had hoped for.
The I-Pace Has Less Range than the Chevy Bolt, Hyundai Kona, and Tesla Model X
This is less than the base Tesla Model X with a 75-kWh battery. Heck, even cars like the Chevrolet Bolt and Hyundai Kona Electric give better range despite their smaller capacity battery packs. To compare it number-by-number, the Jaguar I-Pace delivers 80 MPGe in the city, 72 MPGe on the highway, and 76 MPGe combined, whereas Tesla Model X’s 75-kWh battery pack delivers 91 MPGe in the city, 95 MPGe on the highway, and 93 MPGe combined. Does this mean the I-Pace will be carrying dead weight all its life?

Final Thoughts
Now that the deliveries have already begun, it will be interesting to see whether this inefficiency will play as a keep-away with consumers or will its swanky looks and tech-savvy interior be enough to supplement its shortcoming in the range and efficiency department? Would you pick the Tesla Model X over the Jaguar I-Pace? Let us know in the comments section below.
