BMW's->ke178 Individual program isn't really something that most BMW buyers take advantage of. The serious levels of customization are just too expensive to make much sense on a 1 Series.->ke313 But with a new 2016 BMW 7 Series coming out of Munich, BMW Individual's target demographic will be heading into dealerships to spend money, and BMW wants to make sure it gets all it can. So the BMW website has been updated to include a whole section devoted to what the Individual program can do with the new 7 Series.->ke323 It's likely that there are other option besides these too, so long as you're willing to pay.

Traditionally, 7 Series buyers tend to have fairly conservative tastes, and the options shown are all as conservative as you'd expect. But they are also tastefully elegant, and a good way to brighten up the sometimes drab German interior of the car. Indeed, most of the options are for the interior, but special Individual paint colors and wheels are available as well. For the interior, there are special colors for the leather upholstery, and inserts are available in eucalyptus, ash and piano black.

Why it matters

Other Individual options include a mini-fridge (although this isn't a new option for the 7 Series), customized sill plates and an Alcantara headliner. BMW then goes on to list more standard accessories, like a bike rack and rear-seat iPads. The expanded options list looks nice, but it would be interesting to see some more creative uses of the program, something more like what we regularly see from Rolls-Royce's->ke74 Bespoke program. BMW does own Rolls-Royce, after all.
