A statue has been erected in honor of the Rolls-Royce grill.  Made from stainless steel, the statute is about five feet tall and is topped with the “Spirit of Ecstasy” radiator ornament.

The sculpture is the created by George Wyllie, whom the Manchester Evening news describes as “Scotland’s greatest living sculptor.  Wyllie specializes in creating sculptures designed for urban settings.

This statue sits on the sight of the original Rolls-Royce factory.  Mr. Wyllie says the sculpture, which is named Temple, “is a visual pat on the back for the people of Manchester.

As a Scot I appreciate great engineering and I wanted to recognize Manchester's role in producing Rolls Royces. People in Manchester seem to be on the same wavelength as me.

They seem to like my sculpture and I'm glad Temple will have a permanent home in such an appropriate location."
