While most Valentine’s Day gifts usually consist of flowers, chocolates, or gift cards to Bed, Bath, and Beyond (I don’t have time, ok!), somebody in this great, big world of ours decided to go big with his present. Instead of getting one of those oversized teddy bears, this “incurable romantic” decided to commission McLaren’s MSO personalization division by building him a custom, one-off McLaren 570S Spider that’s dripping in the colors of the day: red, red, and more red.

The one-off McLaren 570S Spider starts off with a bang as the exterior sports a ruby shade of Vermillion Red paint finish. This specific shade comes directly from the McLaren Elite color palette, which itself comes with a splash of exclusivity. The ruby red body of the 570S Spider is matched in audacity by red brake calipers and a specific set of Pirelli P Zero tires taken from the tire manufacturer’s “Color Edition” collection. Care to venture a guess why it belongs in that collection? It’s because the tires come with a matching red stripe. Fortunately — or unfortunately, depending on your preference — not every surface area of the exterior is covered in red. The roof, for example, sports a Dark Palladium gray finish while specific sections of the car received carbon fiber trim. This includes the door inserts, front splitter, back bumper, rear spoiler, and parts of the rear deck lid.

Ok, the break from all the red is over. Move to the interior and the Saint Valentine’s color returns with a vengeance. This time, MSO dressed up the 570S Spider’s cabin with a mixture of Apex Red and Jet Black Nappa leather. The steering wheel also gets the same Apex Red leather while the seat belts are Indian Red. It’s hard to tell the difference between the two, but we’ll let it slide. The dominion of red in the interior is broken up by the aforementioned Jet Black Nappa leather upholstery. MSO also added a Carbon Black Alcantara trim and sprinkled more of the lightweight stuff on the doors, center tunnel, and door sills.

Move to the engine and I’m happy to report that MSO didn’t paint it in red, which it probably could have if the person who commissioned it wanted to. Instead, we get the same 3.8-liter biturbo V-8 unit that the standard 570S has at its disposal. The engine is still capable of producing 562 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. All that power is sent to the rear wheels courtesy of McLaren’s seven-speed seamless shift transmission. The result is a car that can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of about 196 mph. And that’s with the top down.

I suppose now is the time to once again remind you that this bloodshot McLaren 570S Spider is a one-off creation. It’s not for sale, though you can buy a stock example of the supercar for a tidy sum of $208,800. It’s a steep price to pay, but can you imagine the kind of reaction your significant other will have when she sees this car with a ribbon on the hood?

I can only hope that whoever commissioned McLaren to build this one-off 570S Spider still has enough money for dinner.
