Car-themed watches have been a thing for decades now, and today almost every high-profile automaker offers at least one. Needless to say, most of them aren't cheap either. The latest to hit the market is inspired by the iconic Bullitt Mustang, and it's more than just a fashion accessory. Only one was made, and it's being raffled for charity.

Bullitt 50 Watch Raffle

Brought to life by BRM Chronograph and Hunziker Designs, the watch was envisioned by Drive Toward a Cure, an organization that raises funds for people with Parkinson's Disease through car-related events. The program's proceedings are invested in the search for a Parkinson’s cure, through The Michael J. Fox Foundation and The Parkinson’s Institute and Clinical Center.

While a tribute to a classic car, the automatic timepiece is of the modern variety, featuring a 46-mm case made from one block of aluminum. It has crystal sapphire front and back, it's water resistant to 100 meters, and features a screw down crown. It also comes in a specially designed box that depicts the 1968 Ford Mustang driven by Steve McQueen in the "Bullitt" movie.

But by far the most important feature is that it includes a real paint chip from the car. It's really small at less than a gram, but hey, it's a piece of history you can't find in online shops.

How to get tickets?

The watch is valued at $35,000, but Drive Toward a Cure hopes to raise more than that. The watch won't be auctioned off but raffled through 1,968 tickets - a figure identical to the year when "Bullitt" was launched.

The raffle is already in progress, with tickets offered since October 17, the day when the movie's first screening turned 50. Ticket sales will extend through late January. The winner will be announced during the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California, on January 27, 2019, when the original Bullitt car will be displayed.
