When it comes to golf, Tiger Woods is arguably the most successful player of the last two decades. Actually, he's among the most successful golfers of all time, having scored no fewer than 79 wins in the PGA Tour (second only to Sam Snead). However, the California-born athlete isn't exactly a role model behind the steering wheel, being charged with driving under the influence early Monday. The 41-year-old was taken into custody at 3 a.m. in Jupiter, Florida and booked four hours later for DUI.

With 14 major championships under his belt and more than $100 million in career earnings, Tiger Woods has been involved in a number of scandals in recent years. In 2009, he crashed his Cadillac Escalade into a fire hydrant and a tree, being fined for careless driving. Later on, his career was overshadowed by a big scandal around his extramarital affairs, as well as rehabilitation for sex addiction. He also spent nearly one and a half years away from golf because of back problems until December 2016 and his comeback was far from successful.

An Expected Downfall?

There is a big chance that Woods may never return to his glory days and this could explain his recent behavior. Most athletes or artists have a hard time coping with the fact that their career will never be as successful as in the early days and often turn to alcohol or drugs. Granted, this may very well be an isolated incident, but it's disappointing to see a sports person that's supposed to be a role model for many youngsters behave like this in public. Driving under the influence is something all drivers should stay away from doing, but famous people should definitely stay away from such behavior due to their massive exposure.
