As we celebrate our nation’s independence from British rule, it’s good to ponder on all the great things this nation has done. Put a man on the moon? Check. Conquered the Nazi regime, freeing Europe from its blitzkrieg? Check. Won every Super Bowl ever played? Yep, that too. We’ve made some pretty cool stuff along the way as well, including iconic vehicles that epitomize the American way.

Our list of most patriotic vehicles covers a wide gambit yet still focuses on those that either made a difference in our past, help define our American culture, or help pull our economy back into place. They’re the ones you can imagine seeing as fireworks burst overhead with the tune of the Star Spangled Banner softly playing the background. Yeah, you’re starting to get the idea.

So without any further ado, click past the jump for TopSpeed’s list of most patriotic vehicles.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Of course a Chevy truck had to make the list; the only things more American are baseball and apple pie – or perhaps the other vehicles in this list. Either way, the Silverado had been a top choice for the hard-working guys and gals since Chevy introduced the Silverado trim to its C/K pickup truck line in the 1970s. Now in its latest iteration, the Silverado 1500 and HD lineup come with a bevy of gasoline engines and a diesel mill with two- and four-wheel-drive configurations. The leather-lined interiors of today are light years ahead of the vinyl-covered, hard-surfaced interiors of old while the truck’s mechanicals still offer rugged traits. Granted, the Chevy truck is far more refined than it used to be. And that’s all right.

2015 Ford Mustang

Sure, the new 2015 Mustang isn’t found in showrooms just yet, but still it stands as the latest version of the pony car that started it all. Exactly 50 years ago when those first Mustangs rolled off the assembly line until today, the ‘Stang has always been about freedom, horsepower, and the open road. Relatively inexpensive, cheap to modify, and a hoot to hoon, the Mustang is one of the most iconic sports cars ever created. Now coming with even more engine options that still include that raucous 5.0-liter V-8, this pony still has what it takes to be an all-American.

2014 Jeep Wrangler

No list of top American vehicles would be complete without the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler JK is the modern day iteration of that legendary Willys MB that took our boys across Europe and the Pacific in the 1940s. Solid axles, four-wheel-drive, and that go-anywhere spirit still live on today. With its removable doors and top, the Wrangler epitomizes automotive freedom with such an open-air driving experience. Whether you’re rock crawling down the Rubicon trail or mall crawling to pick up a DVD of Saving Private Ryan, the Wrangler will do it all.

So the cars in this list all have their own special qualities – whether it’s going fast and looking cool, hauling loads, or trudging through battle, they’re all uniquely American. But the next three on this list earn their spots not only because of what they are, but just how American they are. According to this year’s annual report from Cars.com these three vehicles contain the most parts supplied by U.S. workers within U.S. factories. So much so, that more than 75 percent of the vehicle is built within our borders.

2014 Dodge SRT Viper

It’s impossible to argue with 10 massive pistons displacing 8.4-liters screaming 640 horsepower through side pipes while burning massive rear tires on its way to 60 mph in just 3.3 seconds. The SRT (nay Dodge SRT) Viper has a relatively short history compared to the others on this list, but what it lacks in years, it makes up for in raw brutality and unbridled grunt. The Viper is built in Detroit and is one of Chrysler’s main halo cars. Plus, with over 75 percent of its guts being made in America, it’s helping keep jobs here and our folks at work.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

Ah, America’s sports car. The iconic Chevy sports car that’s been around since the 1950s and been terrorizing other cars on racetracks all over the country. Though it’s had its rough years with sub-par quality interiors and the string of anemic engines back in the 1980s, the Vette has once again rebounded, enjoying worldwide recognition for its power, handling, and refinement. The new C7 Stingray comes powered with a 6.2-liter V-8 making 460 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque sent through a seven speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. If you need more power, there’s always the new Corvette Z06 coming out for 2015. With a total of 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the Z06 competes against Germany and Italy’s finest. Again, more than 75 percent of its parts are sourced from within the States. The Vette rolls off the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

2014 Ford F-150

Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-150 pickup tops out the list of most American-made vehicle built today. And not only does it top that list, but it also tops the list of the best-selling vehicle sold within the United States, moving more than 760,000 units in 2013 alone. Impressive stats, indeed. The F-150 is also one of the most customizable vehicles sold today as well. From a base single-cab truck with a V-6 powerplant, to a lux-o truck nearly every conceivable feature and a V-8 rumble, the F-150 spans a wide range of customers. With a base price just over $25,000 and a max price topping $56,000, the F-150 seems to offer it all. Built in both Dearborn, Michigan and Claycomo, Montana, the F-150 is about as American as it gets. Or is that ‘Murican?
