We have seen nearly every gimmick under the sun with various automakers, from Saturn->ke77 and its "No Haggle" pricing -- see where that got it -- to Volkswagen with its "Sign Then Drive Event." One gimmick that we've been waiting for is for when dealerships start renting out their cars for extended test drives or just a weekend trip.

Well, the wait is now over, as Toyota->ke88 has done just that. From the looks of things, about 85 percent of Toyota and Scion dealers across the U.S. participate in this program and Toyota claims that its rental rates are competitive with local car-rental companies. According to the Toyota Rent a Car website, you can rent cars, trucks, SUVs, Hybrids and even the 2013 RAV4 EV for a day, week or even months. Unfortunately, the 2013 Scion FR-S isn't on the list of available models, but the almost-as-cool Scion tC->ke1339 is on the list.

So, we can now check brand-new rent-a-buckets off of our wish list, now we are just waiting for all of the dealers to morph into rental showrooms and Internet-based car buying -- now that is "no haggle pricing!" Those two will likely never happen, but at the rate that Tesla->ke1842 is changing the car-buying experience, you just never know what will happen.

Your move, Elon Musk...

2014 Scion tC

The recently released 2014 tC comes packing a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 179 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque, This peppy engine hooks up to a six-speed manual transmission as standard and a six-speed automatic as an option. It may not be the most fun car in the world, but the tC was the best Scion around before the FR-S arrived.

2013 Toyota Tundra

The rough and tumble Toyota Tundra may not be fast, nor is it the best-towing pickup on the market, but it sure looks the part. Its lower-level 4.0-liter and 4.6-liter engines aren't much to get excited about, but the 5.7-liter V-8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque is certainly worth a look. With this 5.7liter V-8 engine, the Tundra can tug along 10,400 pounds with ease -- heck, it even towed a space shuttle around as a publicity stunt.

2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser

It's big, its ugly; yup, it's the FJ Cruiser -- Toyota's resident off-road warrior. This machine features a 260-horsepower V-6 engine that also twists out 271 pound-feet of torque. But that's not where the FJ wins us over; it wins our hearts with its ability to trek through 28 inches of water without killing the engine and its overall "get the @#*$ out of my way" appearance.
