California is facing its deadliest wildfire in history, and so far, 42 people have lost their lives to "Camp Fire. The count would have been much higher if not for good Samaritans like Allyn Pierce. Pierce, a nurse by profession, drove his Toyota Tundra into the flames and evacuated patients from the intensive care unit that he manages. Although he came out unharmed, his Tundra bore the brunt, quite literally. When the Japanese automaker found out about this, it offered to replace his Tundra.

A True Heroic Deed

Allyn Pierce posted a picture of the scathed Tundra on social media. In the post, he said, "this truck literally saved my life today."

Later, Toyota issued a statement, "Our hearts go out to the victims of the devastating California wildfires. We are extremely grateful to all of the emergency crews who are working tirelessly to extinguish the fires and helping people to safety. We are especially thankful to one hero, in particular, Allyn Pierce, for risking his life and sacrificing his Toyota Tundra to drive people to safety. Toyota is so humbled by Mr. Pierce's selfless act that we're pleased to offer him a brand new Tundra."

It is these little gestures that go a long way in building the trust and goodwill for an automaker. Toyota trucks are known for their durability and reliability, and this post by Pierce is a testament to the same. Our hearts go out to the people who have their homes and loved ones to these deadly fires.
