The next few years will be rather exciting, as the pony car war heats up with three updated models. We’ve already reported the deep details of the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang and more recently the 2016 Chevy Camaro with its new underpinnings. But what has Dodge->ke28 been up to? Well, apparently it’s developing a supercharged version of its mighty HEMI engine and calling it the Challenger SRT Hellcat.

Reports are uncertain on whether the 6.2-liter V-8 or the updated 6.4-liter engine will be the recipient of forced induction, but either way, the added power will be a welcomed addition. We also expect the Challenger->ke249 to undergo some significant visual updates for the 2015 model year, helping it compete against its two refreshed rivals. More specifically, the Hellcat will likely challenge the Camaro Z/28 and outgoing Shelby GT500 in both performance and price, coming in at $70,000 to $80,000.

In the shaky and distorted spy video above, the Challenger is seen with camouflaged front and rear fascias, and with an updated, more luxurious interior. We’re not expecting the updates or even the supercharger to rocket the Challenger into the trio’s sales leader, but the changes will help Challenger sales to remain steady. Chrysler->ke21 sold just over 50,000 Challengers in 2013.

All the development money spent on the Hellcat project likely won’t be relegated to one Chrysler car either. Rumor has it the supercharged mill will find its way into the upcoming and also refreshed 2015 Dodge Charger. Though unlike the 6.4-liter HEMI shared between the 300 SRT and Charger SRT, the Hellcat is said to miss the 300.
