When it comes to racing video games->ke2888, you usually get one of two types of experiences. Something like Need for Speed->ke3700 that provides pure excitement and speed at the cost of realism, and then you get titles like Forza Motosports that covet realism above all.

But what if you want a game that focuses on the feeling of racing a car? The Grid series->ke4645 of games focuses on providing a racing game that features a feeling of heft, and speed and motion. They don’t give a direct simulation like Gran Turismo->ke3689, but they don’t feel fake either. It is this middle ground that provides that perfect vicarious thrill.

If this is the kind of game you are looking for, well I have great news for you; there is a new one coming out. The video above is the announcement trailer for Grid Autosport, and it looks to be one hell of a crazy ride. Rather than focusing on GT-style racers, like the past few titles have, this new game provides options for open-wheel racing, prototypes, and much more. They even have full-on tandem drift->ke2756 matches, just like you see in Formula D->ke3405.

We don’t yet have a full list of cars and tracks, but you can see in the video that there is a great mix of exotic machinery, purpose built racers and high-end sports cars->ke506. There also appear to be dedicated tracks as well as street circuits.

If you want to pick up a copy, the game hits store shelves on June 27th for the Xbox->ke3732 360, PS3 and PC. I am not making any promises, but don’t be surprised if we post a full review for you guys.
