EVO's Jethro Bovingdon took the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible and the Mercedes SL63 AMG out for a track battle and made some pretty interesting observations regarding both sports cars. On one hand, Bovingdon took the SL63 AMG to task for having a heavy steering, making it really difficult to handle out on corners. While he did admit to the car possessing some mad horsepower under its hood -- 537 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, to be exact -- Bovingdon didn't seem too comfortable behind the wheel of the Mercedes, often lamenting how tricky the car was to handle out on the track. But still, it was able to complete a lap of 1:23.9 so it's still pretty fast given all the circumstances Bovingdon appeared to deal with.

On the other hand, the XKR-S really got the EVO host's attention, because in his eyes, the Jaguar was an even trickier car to handle compared to the SL63 AMG. Power was also not a problem seeing as the XKR-S is capable of lighting up the rev meters to the tune of 543 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, but as far as Bovingdon was concerned, getting it and around the track without breaking any sweat was a task that proved to be far easier said than done. And the 1:25.7 lap time proved as much.

Maybe Jaguar->ke39 was on to something when it decided to kill off the entire XK line, huh?
