There is something mind-numbingly fantastic about seeing a sports car get revealed for the first time. The theatrics, the music, the overall hype over the vehicle gets your adrenaline pumping. That's the idea, isn't it?

The press introduction for the brand-spanking new SRT Viper was nothing short of any of those descriptions. We've all been waiting for its reveal since the last generation Viper was axed and the wait was well worth it. The 2013 SRT Viper->ke4220 has received an all-new, timeless exterior design with a new carbon-fiber hood, roof, decklid, and aluminum door panels. As a first, the Viper will be offered with LED tail-lamps that integrate stop-and-turn illumination in one element.

It is powered by a new 8.4-liter all-aluminum, V-10 overhead-valve engine that delivers a total of 640 HP and 600 lb.-ft. of torque – the most torque of any naturally aspirated engine in the world. The engine features a new, ultra-high flow and lightweight composite intake manifold, high-strength forged pistons, sodium-filled exhaust valves, new catalysts to reduce back pressure, and an aluminum flywheel that reduces reciprocating losses.

The Viper has received an updated Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission that has been improved with a shorter throw shifter, closer gear ratios and a final drive ratio that has been shortened to 3.07 from 3.55.

All in all, the 2013 SRT Viper is nothing short of amazing. Take a trip to its debut at the 2012 New York Auto Show by checking out these videos.
