This is about the most depressing news we've heard in quite a while. Really, there's really no silver lining to this, is there? What was supposed to be a memorable moment for 87-year old Fred Donald "Don" Krusemark and his family turned into the worst imaginable day for all of them when the Corvette Z06 Mr. Krusemark was riding at the Texas Motor Speedway ended up in a car accident, killing him in the process.

The event, which was organized by BloodCare, was honoring the World War II veteran for his "generous blood and platelet donations over the years with a ride at Texas Motor Speedway. There, he suffered a life-ending injury."

Understandably so, the entire Krusemark family was devastated by the sudden turn of events, which ended up killing their patriarch. "We lost our family patriarch," the family said in a statement. "He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather."

Rest in peace, Mr. Krusemark. That's really no way to lose your life.
