The Renault Kadjar is a relatively new model in the crossover segment. It only made its debut in 2015 and has only been on the market for a few years. I bring this up because our excellent spy photographers managed to capture a peculiar-looking Renault SUV that looks awfully like the Kadjar, except that it isn’t. Could this be a new SUV that Renault is planning to launch in the near future?

It’s hard to put ourselves in Renault’s position because we don’t know what this mule really is. The obvious answer would be is that it’s a bigger version of the Kadjar that the French automaker may or may not have in the pipeline. We can assume as much because the prototype looks bigger than the actual Kadjar. Unless our eyes are playing tricks on us, it’s also noticeably longer than the Kadjar, and one photo even shows that it has four-wheel-steering.

None of this gives us any clear answers on what we’re looking at, but I can tell you that this isn’t an updated version of the Kadjar. The small SUV only debuted a few years ago, so it’s unreasonable to expect that it’s in dire need of a replacement already.

There are obviously more questions than answers here, but rest assured, once we know more about what this model is and how it’s related to the Kadjar, we’re going to get the word out.

For now, take a look at the spy photos and see if you see anything that can point all of us in the right direction. We’ve been digging for clues ourselves, but with a lack of information on many fronts, your guess is as good as ours.
