The stringent World Harmonized Light Vehicle test Procedure (WLTP) has struck again. This time, Jaguar bears the brunt. Introduced at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Jaguar XJR575 is no longer available in Europe. Since the powerful sedan is a gas-guzzler, Jaguar had no option but to retire the car in Europe.

Down Goes The Jag XJR575

However, this Jaguar flagship is still available in the U.S in its long wheelbase specification. Compared to the Mercedes-AMG S63, the Jaguar XJR575 is $25,000 cheaper at a retail price of $122,400. But, the present generation XJ is almost a decade old.

Apart from a luxurious cabin, the XJR575 runs on 575 horses and sprints from a naught to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, before topping out at 174 mph. Despite its age, it's still a serious machine, packing 575 horsepower for a 0-60 mph (0-96 kph) run in 4.2 seconds en route to a top speed of 174 mph (280 kph) while you're being cocooned in a luxurious cabin.

Hopefully, It’ll Make A Comeback In This Avatar

No details have been revealed apart from the scoop that the cabin will be bigger and roomier, and it will sure as hell be a driver’s car! To remind you, a convoy of XJs had driven to Paris to mark the 50th anniversary since the launch of the Series 1 in 1968. Jaguar is celebrating this milestone with a special edition XJ50, based on the Autobiography trim. It will get an assortment of tweaks and interior upgrades.
