Are you the kind of person who wants to live the Bugatti lifestyle, but don’t wanna drop the millions needed to get a gently-used Veyron? Then renting might be the better option for you. However, don’t think it’s gonna come cheap…

Where Can I Rent a Veyron and What Do I Get for my Money?

Sitting at the top of the heap is some of Molsheim’s finest, including the Bugatti Veyron, which at about $20,000 per day is the most expensive rental car in the U.S.

No doubt, twenty large certainly ain’t chump change. For that kind of money, you could get yourself a brand-new Honda Civic. You know, to own. But in the well-heeled world of Bugattis, that kind of figure is a pittance - in fact, $20,000 is about what it would cost to do an oil change on the Veyron.

However, those on the West Coast looking to drop $20K on a rental Veyron should look to Royalty Exotic Cars, based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. We featured Royalty Exotic Cars back in July, covering a video the posted to YouTube depicting the group’s techs hacking up a Veyron’s drivetrain to convert it from AWD to RWD. You know, for donuts or whatever.

Speaking with CNBC Make It, Royalty Exotic Cars CEO Houston Crosta explained his company’s sky-high pricing with regards to the Veyron rentals. “Our Bugatti Veyron Mansory Edition is priced the way it is because of the name behind the vehicle. A Bugatti is not something you can walk into your local Enterprise or Hertz and rent. The Bugatti depreciates at almost $1,500 per mile driven, which is why we limit the car to 100 miles per day. Putting a ton of miles on a Bugatti can kill the resale value and ultimately depreciate the car to nothing.”

“We normally do not rent out the Bugatti to anyone that can walk in with $20,000 because there are many factors that play into the rental,” Crosta explains to CNBC Make It. “Does the renter have proper insurance that will cover the actual cash value of this car? Does the renter have the wealth or resources to cover the Bugatti in case the insurance company decides to not pay?”

Yep - you’ll still need to be pretty rich to get behind the wheel, even if you’ve got a spare $20,000 sitting around for the upfront costs.

That said, those that do have the money will have some pretty tempting options to choose from. For example, Royalty Exotic Cars offers limited edition hypercars like the Veyron Mansory Edition, which includes a unique carbon fiber body kit.

So who do these services actually serve? Well, you might not be surprised to learn that Veyron rentals aren’t necessarily just for joy riding. Instead, many of the renters utilize the cars for photo shoots and other media production, which fits pretty well with the low-mileage, high-dollar, insurance-heavy stipulations involved.

Would you drop $20,000 to rent a Bugatti Veyron for the day? If you did, what would you do with it?
