Normally, if you wanna drive around in a new Tesla for a little while, you gotta have a trusting friend with one already parked in his or her driveway. Now, one rental company in Minnesota is offering folks a shot at experiencing a Tesla first-hand by renting them out during Super Bowl week.

The Full Story

Thanks to its silent-running motors and low-end all-electron torque shove, driving a Tesla is most definitely an interesting and unique experience. The badge carries quite a bit of clout, which has prompted a variety of rental companies to offer the California-sourced EVs as their exclusive brand. Trevls is one such company, and now the Minneapolis-based firm is setting up shop at the Mall of America to push its 20-Tesla strong fleet out to visitors in town for the Big Game.

Pricing ranges between $195 per day for the Model S sedan, while the Model X sport utility vehicle is $350 per day. Funny enough, Trevls is even offering rental by the hour, which is perfect for anyone looking to take a Tesla for a test drive.

Finding a Model S parked inside the Mall of America is a bit of a windfall for Tesla, as the company has been vying to get a location there to tempt potential buyers. However, state law stipulates car sales must be done through a dealer, which is a sales model Tesla refuses to adopt, instead preferring direct sales. However, a rental company offering hour-long rates circumvents the issue entirely.

As a reminder, the current Tesla Model S comes in three different flavors, including the 275-mile 75D, the 351-mile 100D, and the top-trim 337-mile P100D. That last model manages an incredible run to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds. Meanwhile, the Model X features seating for up to seven passengers, Falcon Wing doors, and 295 miles per charge.
