Growing up as car junkies, we all played with Hot Wheels at some point in our lives – some of us actually still do. Yeah, Hot Wheels pretty much recreated every car under the sun in miniature form, but we only really wanted the cool ones. You know, the Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs, etc.

Now that we are all big boys and girls, playing with Hot Wheels cars really isn’t in the cards – at least it’s not necessarily accepted. That is until Chevy and Hot Wheels got together and created a special edition Camaro->ke248, dubbed the 2013 Camaro Hot Wheels Edition. For the most part, the Hot Wheels Edition is purely an aesthetic thing, but with the Camaro’s impressive performance across the board, a few extra goodies on the inside and outside is good enough for most of us.

The new Hot Wheels Edition is the first full-size, production Hot Wheels car offered for sale by any manufacturer. It will be available in both coupe and convertible versions and will be offered for 2LT and 2SS trims. Production will begin in early 2013 and the price for the package is $6,995.

UPDATE 11/19/12: The Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is headed to the UK with a price tag already set for both the manual and automatic transmission. Find out how much the prices are after the jump.

Exterior

The new Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will be offered in a very cool Kinetic Blue exterior paint finish combined with unique graphics. This new edition is all about aesthetic changes, so it will definitely turn some heads come show time. It offers design cues from the high-performance Camaro ZL1, including a rear spoiler for the coupe models and a front upper grille for all of the models. Next to these items, Chevrolet will also be offering a ground effects package that includes a front splitter and rocker treatment.

Each car will be offered with a new set of 21" black wheels with a red outline stripe and since this is a special edition model, there will also be a "Hot Wheels" logo on the grille and decklid plus fender "flames" graphics. The car's hood will feature a two-tone matte hood graphic and the rear taillight panel will feature a "blackout" graphic.

Interior

The Camaro's interior will also highlight the Hot Wheels theme, with a leather-trimmed interior contrasting with red and black seat stitching, a black instrument panel and black door inserts. Special Hot Wheels logos were embroidered on the front seats, on each door, and on the sill plates.

All models will be offered with Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system.

Engine

The new Camaro ZL1 Hot Wheels Edition will be ordered with either the 2LT or the 2SS trims, meaning customers will get to choose between a V6 or a V8 engine.

The 2LT version will be offered with a 3.6 liter V6 engine that delivers a total of 323 HP at 6800 rpm, while the 2SS version gets a 6.2 liter V8 engine offered in two iterations. The automatic models will get a 400 HP L99 engine and the manual models will get an LS3 engine with 426 HP and 420 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Camaro SS models with a manual transmission and the LT models will be offered with a dual-mode exhaust system that provides a quieter driving experience at low engine speeds and a more aggressive sound during hard acceleration.

Prices

The price for the new Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels package is $6,995. This price will be added to the Camaro's standard price of $29,585 for the 2LT version and $37,035 for the 2SS version.
