The Chevrolet SS may not get the same love as the Corvette->ke4579 and Camaro->ke248 in the Bowtie's lineup, but sleeping on this raunchy sedan is a big mistake.

NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon->ke767 will likely reprimand you for doing so.

The SS is all business and at the 2013 SEMA Show->ke216, Chevrolet->ke199 is preparing a concept SS and its tying up with, you guessed, Jeff Gordon himself.

The vehicle, appropriately billed as the Jeff Gordon SS Performance Sedan Concept, is a refreshing program on the muscular sedan that plays to the creativity of the multi-titled NASCAR->ke3635 driver. Gordon's all-business personality was clearly translated onto the concept, as shown by the classy satin exterior finish that effuses a no-nonsense approach the SS wants to be known for.

A handful of No. 24 graphics can be found throughout the exterior, splashing a nice touch of flavor to the sedan and giving it that aesthetic balance that you'd want to see in a car coming to SEMA. The SS also receives a new custom front grille, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and a set of custom-finished, 20-inch wheels, all of which play equal parts in providing a strength of character to the SS.

Inside, the changes were kept to a minimum, but still distinct enough to spruce up the cabin. Perforated suede seat inserts and embroidered headrests are the most distinctive upgrades, with a racing-style flat-bottom steering wheel and Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit added in for good measure.

Other modifications added into the package include a lowered suspension, high-performance brakes and a Borla exhaust system. No other performance mods were given, which is a little disappointing, but hey, if you have a 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that packs 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque in tow, chances are, you won't be too disappointed about it.

2014 Chevrolet SS Performance

The arrival of the Chevrolet SS in the U.S. not only meant that Chevy would finally have that high-performance sedan in its lineup, but it also gave notice to Dodge and Ford that the Bowtie is coming for the Charger and the Taurus SHO.

There's not much to talk about in terms of looks, but its performance credentials are completely legit. The Chevrolet SS comes packed with a 6.2-liter, V-8 engine that packs 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph in around 4.9 seconds to go with a top speed of 165 mph.

The Chevrolet SS Performance retails for $44,470, including a $995 destination charge.
