Chevy is doing an all-out Redline Special Edition blitz at this year’s Chicago Auto Show, with no less than nine individual models receiving the extra Redline gloss treatment. Out of all of them, perhaps the most appropriate model to get Redline’d is the Camaro, although there are also several truck and crossover models getting their own Redline Special Editions as well. We first got a taste for the Redline enhancements a few years back at SEMA in Las Vegas, and now, the package is getting put into production. With that in mind, you should have a general idea what to expect – there are a few aesthetic enhancements and custom touches outside, plus a little bit inside as well, while the mechanicals and hard bits underneath the skin are all left as is.

The Redline, er, line utilizes a black and red color theme, seen prominently throughout the body panels. The package also and adds larger wheels, special badging, unique graphics, and new carpets.

Like the other Redline models on offer, the Redline Camaro gets 20-inch wheels with a black finish and red hash mark along a portion of the outer rim section. There are also black nameplates outlined in red on the body panels, while the front grille and Chevy bowtie badge are also blacked out.

The Chevrolet Camaro Redline Edition can be had for either the LT or SS trim level. In addition, you can get it in either the hardtop coupe two-door, or the convertible body style.

Chevy has yet to announce an exact on-sale date, but did say to expect the Camaro Redline to become available sometime this coming spring.

What Makes The Chevrolet Camaro Redline Edition Special

It makes a lot of sense to keep the special editions flowing for a model like the Camaro. As one of Chevy’s most iconic and visible cars, it’s important to offer customers unique packages to help their ride stand out from the rest of the pack. As such, Chevy has already offered multiple special editions for the latest sixth-gen Camaro, including the popular 50th Anniversary Edition.

Back to the Redline Edition. Unique to the Camaro Redline is a black hash mark placed on the fender just above the front wheels. This is a nod to the muscle car’s motorsports history, and helps underline the cars muscular lines.

Further enhancements include a black finish for the side-view mirrors, which complement the black finish on the 20-inch wheels quite well. You’ll also find red dashes for the lower front grille inserts, which complement the red hash marks in the wheels as well. In back is a blacked-out deck lid decal, plus darker taillight coverings. Inside you’ll get new carpets complete with red stitching. Available exterior colors for the Camaro Redline include Summit White, Silver Ice Metallic, and Black.

As a reminder, the standard Camaro LT gets LED daytime running lights, halogen headlights, a unique grille, and a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, while a six-speed manual is optional.

Meanwhile, the standard SS model is equipped with unique exterior aero, hood vents, a larger front grille, HID headlights, LED taillights, available Magnetic Ride Control suspension, and a ground-pounding 6.2-liter V-8 engine producing 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. As for gearbox options, the SS switches it up compared to the LT, with the six-speed manual issued as standard, and the eight-speed automatic offered as an option.

With a name like “Redline,” it would have been nice to see a little extra performance boost added as well, such as breathing modes for the intake or exhaust. But such things are rare these days, and I’m sure there are more than a few buyers out there eager to get their hands on the Camaro Redline.
