Exterior
The new C4 Picasso was built on the company's new EMP2 platform that makes it more compact that the previous generation. It is 4 cm (1.5 inches) shorter and the roofline is also 4 cm (1.5 inches) lower.
The front end received a more dynamic styling with new look chevrons and slim LED daytime-running lights. On the side the model is distinguished by a signature "C" shape trim in chrome, while the rear gets LED lights in a futuristic and novel 3D effect.
The model can be ordered in four trim levels: VTR, VTR+, Exclusive & Exclusive+ and eight exterior colors.
Interior
For the interior the model offers a unique panoramic windscreen or an optional large glass sunroof. For the dashboard Citroen is offering a wide range of color combination, including glossy blacks and sparkle-effect finishes.
For the door panels the company is offering a laser engraved pattern, while the front seats feature an asymmetric graphic. As an option customers can choose between light-colored Nappa leather and an attractive upholstery option.
Customers can choose between a "tablet" style 7 inch touchpad and a 12 inch panoramic HD screen.
Drivetrain
Thanks to the new EMP2 platform, the new C4 Picasso is 140 kg (308 pounds) lighter than its predecessor. The reduced mass combined with improved aerodynamics and optimized drivetrains significantly improve efficiency and helped reducing CO2 emissions by an average of 30g/km.
The C4 Picasso will be offered with a choice of two engines: a e-HDi 90 Airdream and a BlueHDi 150 unit. Both engines can be combined with a new 6-speed clutchless manual gearbox called ETG6 (6-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox).

Competition
The third generation Ford S-Max will be based on the Ford Fiesta Mark VI and it will be sold globally, except Japan. The model will feature Ford's latest Kinetic Design styling that will include angular headlights, twin trapezoidal grilles, and large wheelarches.
We expect the engine lineup to be carried from the current generation, but improved to deliver more power and improved fuel economy.
The third generation Zafira was previewed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, as the 'Zafira Tourer Concept and was put on sale late in 2011.
The model is offered with a choice of twelve engine, with power ranging from 110 to 195 horsepower.
Conclusion
The new C4 Picasso is the first model to be built on Citroen's new EMP2 platform that makes it lighter and more fuel efficient. The model also adopts a new exterior look, but somehow we find it difficult to believe it will be enough to steal customers' attention from the S-Max.
