British supercar dealer Clive Sutton is known for his impeccable taste in the finer things of the automotive world. But Sutton also knows his way around American muscle cars,->ke507 a fact that has been emphasized with the release of three different tuning packages for the Ford Mustang. The most potent of these programs is called “CS700” and is capable of increasing the output of the ‘Stang’s 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 to an impressive 700 horsepower. Two other programs – the “CS500” and the “CS350" – are also available, although the CS350 is compatible with the entry-level, 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost-powered Mustang.->ke428

In addition to the plethora of Power Packages that are being offered by Sutton, the program also comes with an appearance package, brake package, ride package, and individual options that can be availed in conjunction with the power package. Modifications to the interior are also available courtesy of tailor-made service Sutton Bespoke.

Those who end up getting all the tuning packages will likely spend a premium for all of them as the total price could exceed £30,000 depend on what's checked off. But the promise of a comprehensive and exhilarating Ford Mustang may be too good to pass up.

Unfortunately, the kit looks like it’s only going to be available in the U.K. since the whole program was developed for right-hand drive Mustangs.

Exterior

Clive Sutton’s Appearance Package for the Ford Mustang is available for all variants of the muscle car. It’s made up of a deck-lid panel, chin front splitter, side skirt rockers, and a rear spoiler. All these components are made from carbon. The package also includes some cosmetic touch-ups, most notably the painted wing mirrors, the Gloss Black “Pony” emblem on the rear of the Mustang, and a pair Gloss Black “5.0” emblems for the range-topping V-8 version of the muscle car.

Individual options are also available and includes a “ram air” on the hood and window louvres, both of which are made from carbon fiber. There’s also a quarter panel side scoop, body color hood scoop, a custom lighting pack, and aluminum louvres that are only available for Fastback versions of the Mustang. A new set of 20-inch, 10-spoke custom finished gloss black alloy wheels from Vossen complete the Mustang's exterior upgrades.

Interior

The only interior modifications at the moment are the four-piece carbon fiber dashboard and a Super HiFi Audio package. No specifics were given on what comes with the audio package, but a safe assumption would be upgrades that will vastly improve the sound system inside the muscle car. Sutton also said that the Mustang would be eligible for the Sutton Bespoke treatment, which upon checking its website, could include materials ranging from “Alcantara, Napa and English Hide, Real wood veneers, and Piano black Lacquer.”

Drivetrain

This is where Sutton’s program for the Mustang really proves its worth. As I’ve mentioned, there are three different tuning packages available for the Mustang, two of which are available for the V-8 version of the muscle car.

The first of these three kits is the CS350. This program is made up of a new cold air intake, an Active Exhaust Control system, and a bespoke rear valance, and a quad exhaust system. The AEC, in particular, can be activated by a switch installed on the Mustang’s center console and allows the driver to choose from four different settings: Touring, Sport, Track, and Custom. Each of these four settings come with a unique volume and tone of the exhaust sound. All together, the CS350 program increases the output of the 2.3-liter four-pot EcoBoost from 310 horsepower to 330 horsepower.

Then there’s the CS500, which comes with the same set of engine modifications as the CS350 kit. The only notable difference is that the CS500 is available for the V-8 Mustang and is tuned to produce 440 horsepower, a small uptick from the standard unit.

Finally, there’s the CS700. This program is available for the V-8-powered Mustang and adds a Whipple supercharger and an upgraded intercooler into the mix. The result is an output of 645 horsepower, over 200 ponies more than the standard model. Would-be customers are also given the option to extract an extra 55 horsepower courtesy of a larger throttle body and carbon fiber inlet tubes, bringing the output to 700 horsepower.

No performance numbers were given but considering the extra juice that Clive Sutton was able to get out of the Mustang’s EcoBoost four-cylinder and V-8 engines, expect some noticeable improvements on the muscle car’s 0-to-60-mph spring time and top speed. In the case of the V-8, a 0-to-60-mph sprint time of under four seconds and a top speed of 190 mph is possible provided that the electronic limiter is removed.

Chassis and Suspension

To accommodate the increased power brought about by the Power Packages, Sutton is also offering two unique Ride Packages to address the handling of the muscle car. The first package is compatible with the CS350 and CS500 kits and includes the 20-inch wheels and CS springs that can reduce the car’s ride height by .098 inches. The second package is available with the CS700 and comes with the same wheel offerings that also includes Bridgestone tires. A specially designed CS700 Suspension kit is also available and is capable of dropping the ride height by 1.18 inches.

Pricing

Each of the packages that are available for the Mustang come with their corresponding prices. The basic CS700 kit, for example, costs £14,510, or about $21,220 based on current exchange rates. The CS700 kit also comes with an extended power range that puts the output up to 700 horsepower. This “add-on” costs £1,150 ($2,208). Meanwhile, the C500 and C350 packages come with the same £4,990 ($7,297) price tag.

We all know Geiger Cars as the European tuner that specializes on American performance cars. Back in April 2016, the tuner presented its latest aftermarket package for the Ford Mustang. The most notable part of the kit is a 2.9-liter supercharger that was added into the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V-8 configuration. Likewise, a plethora of new mechanical components, including a new crankshaft, forged pistons, steel connecting rods, a cold air intake system, and a stainless steel sports exhaust system, were all installed to help the Mustang produce 820 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque, a ridiculous improvement form the Mustang’s standard output of 435 horses and 400 pound-feet of twist.

The company is celebrated for its ability to get more out of the Mustang and Roush proved as much when it presented a Phase 1 supercharger kit that includes a 2.3-liter supercharger kit and a few minor calibrations, including upgrading the fuel injectors, adding a 2.95-inch supercharger pulley, and installing a revised version of its fuel pump booster kit. Conclusion

The name Clive Sutton may not ring a bell to people here in the U.S., but in the U.K., the man is a noted name in the British supercar scene. His tuning packages for the Mustang show the extent of expertise that Sutton has about performance cars, even those that originate from across the pond. The engine upgrades, in particular, are varied enough to give customers a choice of what they'd like to get out of the 'Stangs. That counts for something.
