Hennessey has once again thrust itself into the spotlight with another mind-bending creation, called the Goliath. As the name suggests, Goliath isn’t a pee-wee muscle car with turbochargers stacked one on top of the other. It’s not even a demented supercar that can hit 300 mph. Goliath is what its name says it is. Goliath is a Chevrolet Silverado-based 6x6 monstrosity that can probably withstand the apocalypse if it arrived today.

What makes the Chevrolet Silverado Goliath 6x6 by Hennessey special

Hennessey’s imagination knows no bounds. The company that gave us the Venom GT and the Venom F5, not to mention all the tuning programs it has concocted over the years, is at it again with a creation that speaks to its creativity and willingness to go against the grain. The Goliath is what happens when you push the limits of what’s possible. Only a few companies can think that far out of the box, and Hennessey’s one of them.

You only need to look at the Goliath to understand that this isn’t an ordinary tuning job. It still carries the face and profile of the Silverado, but the guts underneath are completely different. First, it sits on a custom bed, which makes room for the extra axle that, in turn, accommodates the extra pair of wheels. Hennessey also fitted it with an eight-inch lift kit and an all-new rear suspension system to handle the increased complexity of the pickup’s overall setup. The massive pickup also rolls on 37-inch BF Goodrich off-road tires. This beast isn’t playing around, folks.

Less imposing but no less distinctive are the new front and rear bumpers and the LED lights. The “Chevrolet” logos on the front grille and the tailgate are gone, replaced instead by “Hennessey” spelled in big, bold letters. A roll bar is also included in the package, presumably because Hennessey wants to make sure Goliath still adheres to some safety requirements. That or it the company just wanted to add it for the sake of adding it. Either way, these upgrades are all part of an ambitious plan to give the Silverado the just-invented “Apocalypse-proof” safety rating.

You would think that’s the end of it, right? You’d be wrong. Just as Goliath is scary looking, it’s also scary fast for a ride of its size. The result is an increased output of 705 horsepower and 675 pound-feet of torque. As impressive as that sounds, all that power is going to a vehicle that weighs about the same as a mountain. Ordinarily, the assumption would be that the pickup’s weight would compromise its performance abilities. Apparently, you’d be wrong, again, if you jumped to that conclusion. Hennessey didn’t say how fast Goliath can go, but it did estimate a sprint-to-60-mph time in the mid-four-second range, which is incredible in it of itself without realizing that an acceleration time like that would be equal to what an Audi S4 is capable of. Heck, Hennessey’s even offering an optional upgrade that would bring Goliath’s power output up to 808 horsepower. Imagine the kind of destruction that version of Goliath is capable of.

As expected, Hennessey’s not asking for peanuts when it comes to Goliath. Only 24 will be built so if you’re up to burning your cash flow on a 6x6 pickup truck that can annihilate anything in its path, now’s as good a time as any to have that discussion with the missus.
