We’re steadily approaching November and everyone in the auto industry is preparing for the Specialty Equipment Market Association show; you know it as SEMA,->ke216 the world’s biggest aftermarket auto show We’re getting really close and that means automakers and tuning companies are slowly beginning to unveil their SEMA-bound creations. One such tuning specialist is Blood Type Racing Inc., a Chicago-based builder that has just unveiled its new program for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Blood Type Racing, like every other tuning firm headed to SEMA, didn’t pull any punches with this Genesis Coupe.->ke141 It’s about as comprehensive as it gets, complete with exterior and interior modifications, to go with engine enhancements and suspension changes. This modification setup is the type that can really transform a car like the Genesis from an everyday sports coupe->ke506 into a filthy juggernaut, ready to take all comers on the road or drag strip.

It’s so insanely modded that its hard to recognize the Genesis Coupe underneath that body kit. If anything, it’s the perfect example of what a SEMA-prepared sports car should be. After all, the auto show doesn’t take too kindly to timid programs. The more flamboyant the better.

Blood Type Racing’s Genesis program certainly fits that bill.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe By Blood Type Racing in detail

Just check out the massive modifications put into the sports coupe’s exterior. Everything is custom-made, including the Candy Red paint finish that’s about as discrete as Lady Gaga’s fashion choices. The exterior wide body kit was designed by none other than noted Japanese kit builder Kei Miura. The new wide body front and rear fenders, the front bumper lip spoiler, the rear diffuser, and the GT wing were added after the work from Kei Miura

Inside, Blood Type Racing continued with the massive tuning overhaul, turning the Genesis Coupe’s cabin into a veritable race car interior. If Sabelt’s GT-200 Carbon / Fiberglass shell racing seats aren't obvious enough, the tuner also added sliders, racing harnesses, and an SW-390 racing steering wheel, all from Sabelt. Planted seat brackets were also added into the equation, as well as Tanabe OLED revel gauges, a Cuosco roll cage, and a BTR custom rear seat delete.

The engine modifications are quite massive and that’s putting it lightly. The Genesis’ 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is just the foundation of this tuning program. Blood Type Racing rebuilt most of the engine using BC625+ forged connecting rods, oversized stainless steel valves, and valve guides, all done with the help of noted tuner Brian Crower. Blood Type Racing also enlisted the help of ARP to supply the program with head studs, main studs, flywheel bolts, and cam tower studs. Cylinder valves from Darton International were also used, same with a 90mm bore race head gasket from Cosworth, powered valve springs from Tomei, and stage 2 cams from GSC. BTR used its own custom intake manifold and ECU tuning.

In order to build up the Genesis Coupe to produce supercar-like numbers, BTR dropped a new turbo kit into the engine configuration. To make things even more unfair, nitrous was also added, you know, just in case a rough rider decides to take on the Genesis Coupe in a quarter-mile race.

All told, Blood Type Racing was able to inject a total of 800 horsepower to the rear wheels and as much as 1,000 horsepower at the crank through a six-speed manual transmission.

That's not a typo, ladies and gentlemen.

A car this powerful needs to be reinforced to handle all that extra horses. Blood Type Racing installed a suspension coil over system and cup kit from Stance to make the ride beefier and sturdier. Whiteline sway bars were also used, same with tower braces and body braces, adjustable sway bar end links and a a rigid subframe collar kit from Enthuspec.

Rounding out the list of aftermarket goodies are the new set of 19-inch Custom 2 Piece wheels from WORK Wheels and wrapped in Toyo R888 tires with a performance brake kit from Wilwood.
