The Jaguar F-Type has been called many things, and as the ultimate sports car in the Jaguar family, it bears a lot of responsibility to make a good impression on the auto industry. To Jag’s credit, it prepared the F-Type to do just that and a lot of people have taken notice. That includes the tuning world, as is the case with German tuner B&B Automobiltechnik, which has a new tuning program for the F-Type. This kit is as extensive as they come as it offers plenty of engine upgrade packages for three different variants of the F-Type. The range-topper of the lot, the F-Type SVR, headlines the list with a package that brings an output of 645 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque.

In addition, B&B is also offering engine upgrade packages for the F-Type V8 S and the F-Type R with each program designed to net more power and performance out of the Jag sports car. Chassis and suspension modifications are also being offered, as is a new set of 21-inch wheels. All of these upgrades meet a certain standard that we’ve come to know from B&B Automobiltechnik.

Owners of the F-Type should take note of what B&B Automobiltechnik is offering for the Jaguar F-Type. As the face of the British automaker’s performance lineup, the F-Type and all of its variants have to live up to the expectations that have been set for it. These upgrades from B&B help Jag meet those expectations.

Exterior

There’s not a lot going on in the exterior of the Jaguar F-Type SVR other than a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 255/30ZR21 and 295/25ZR21 front and rear tires, respectively.

Interior

The same holds true in the interior as B&B opted to keep the F-Type’s cabin in stock configuration.

There may not be enough cosmetic upgrades on the exterior and interior of the F-Type to make things any more interesting in those parts, but B&B saw fit to do the opposite with the sports car’s engine. A total of six different upgrades are available for three variants of the F-Type, including a pair each for the F-Type V8 S, F-Type R, and the range-topping F-Type SVR.

First on the docket is the F-Type V8 S with a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine, which features an entry level kit that pushes the sports car’s output to 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque, a subtle improvement that matches the standard output from the F-Type R, up from the F-Type V8 S' standard output of 495 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

A second stage kit for this particular F-Type variant is also available with a new output of 600 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque. The result of this Stage 2 conversion is a 0-to-60-mph sprint time of just 3.6 seconds, a 0-to-124-mph sprint of just 11.5 seconds, and a top speed of over 186 mph.

Next on the list of engine upgrades is the F-Type R, which features a similar 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine. The Stage 1 kit puts the sports car’s output to 585 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque while the Stage 2 upgrade brings it all the way up to 625 horses and 575 pound-feet of twist. That’s good enough to propel the F-Type R to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds to go with a sprint to 124 mph in just 11.2 seconds. Top speed has also been increased to 199 mph.

Last but certainly not least is the top-of-the-line F-Type SVR. For this program, B&B’s upgrades come with a combination of mechanical modifications and software tweaking. That includes the addition of a smaller supercharger pulley that results in higher boost pressure. Machined air intake path and manifold guides are also part of the upgrades, as are the revised fuel and ignition maps for the car’s engine control unit. The result is an output of 600 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque for the ECU-only Stage 1 kit and an impressive 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque for the Stage 2 kit. With this upgrade in tow, the F-Type SVR would be able to hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds and 124 mph in just 10.5 seconds en route to a top speed of 199 mph.

Chassis and Suspension

To accommodate all of the engine upgrades, B&B is also offering a number of chassis and suspension upgrades, beginning with a set of sports springs that helps drop the ride height of the F-Type by 0.78 inches at the front and 0.59 inches at the back. Likewise, the tuner is also offering an adjustable coil-over suspension kit that lowers the sports car’s ride height from 0.20 inches to 1.18 inches. Then there’s the KW V3 coilover suspension kit that’s not only fully adjustable for the ride height, but also offers bounce and rebound control. Last but not least is a set of wheel spacers that helps increase the width of the front and rear tracks from 1.18 inches to 1.58 inches.

Porsche 911 Turbo S by TechArt

TechArt is a noted Porsche tuner and back in May 2016, it presented a tuning kit for the 2017 911 Turbo S that put in a modest increase in power for the sports car. The modifications weren’t extensive by any means with the only work done on the 911’s engine unit. But the results are enough to get 640 horsepower and 649 pound-feet of torque out of the car’s 3.8-liter turbocharged flat-six engine. Those new numbers represented an improved sprint to 60 mph time of just 2.7 seconds, much quicker than the F-Type SVR to go with a top speed of 210 mph, also head and shoulders better than what B&B Automobiltechnik got out of the Jag.

Conclusion

There aren’t that many tuning programs for the Jaguar F-Type so naturally, owners of the sports car will take what they can get. Fortunately, B&B’s tuning kit is as impressive as they come considering the vast number of engine upgrades it is offering. Those who avail of it will have to go somewhere else for any cosmetic or aerodynamic enhancements, but as far as adding more power to the sports car’s V-8 engine, B&B has plenty of impressive choices to choose from.
