Jon Olsson may be most famous for being a professional freeskier and alpine ski racer, but over in the auto industry, the Swedish skier wears a completely different hat as the creator of some of the most individualized custom car projects this side of James Glickenhaus. We’ve seen a lot of the 34-year old’s car projects over the years. There’s the Audi RS6 DTM, the Audi R8-based PPI Design Razor GTR, and let’s not forget about the Rebellion R1k Ultima GTR. Olsson’s penchant for turning his car collection into custom, one-off creations is why we’re here because the Swede’s latest car project, one involving the Lamborghini Huracán, has arrived.

Olsson’s history with modified performance cars is well-documented so it’s nice to see that his penchant for the outlandish has yet to subside. You might not like how some of his custom projects have turned out, but you have to admit that Olsson knows how to swing for the fences. The Huracán project falls in the same boat; it’s polarizing to a certain extent, but it fits into the Swede’s lifestyle like a ski glove. Others may think it’s too tacky, but the guy who owns it doesn’t, which is the only thing that matters.

The program itself is all-encompassing as Olsson literally checked off as many aftermarket companies as he could to help contribute in the creation of his one-off Huracán. Ultimately, the man got what he wanted because the Lambo received cosmetic upgrades, performance modifications, and the one common denominator of Olsson’s custom rides: the ski rack resting comfortably on the roof. For a guy who still earns his fame through his world-class skiing exploits, that ski rack is as important a piece in the Jon Olsson tuning puzzle as is the rest of the modifications given to his Huracán.

The car isn’t subtle by any means, but it does exude Olsson's personality and at the end of the day, he’s the one who’s going to enjoy the spoils of his new custom Lamborghini Huracán.

Exterior

A common design theme of Jon Olsson’s custom performance cars is the black, grey, and white camouflage body. It’s no surprise that this Huracán got the same treatment with the wraps coming from Wrapzone and the installation being done by Andreas. The program also received carbon fiber intakes from Eventuri, a crucial addition given the amount of work that was done on the Huracán's 5.2-liter V-10 engine. Last but not least is the ski box, which Olsson had installed with the help of 56Nord to ensure that his skis had a place to ride.

Drivetrain

Olson doesn’t always place a high priority on the his car’s ability on aftermarket performance modifications, but he opted to take that route with the Lamborghini. Maybe he thought the V-10’s 600-horsepower output wasn’t enough, or maybe he just wanted to squeeze as much power as he can from the car. Either way, the engine upgrades are there and it’s largely the work of Steersman Motorsport, which not only opted for a VF supercharger kit, but also spent hours upon hours installing and tweaking it into the drivetrain. The result is an astounding output of more than 800 horsepower, enough to put it on the same performance level as the ones done by established tuners like Novitec Torado and O.CT Tuning.

Olson didn’t say how the modifications translate into performance improvements, but he did say that at one point in early testing, his Huracán was clocked going from 62 mph to 124 mph in just 5.3 seconds, deeply entrenching into supercar territory. Complementing the massive aftermarket work on the Huracán's V-10 engine is a new exhaust system. For his part, Olsson seems to have good taste in that regard by tapping Akrapovich, arguably the go-to exhaust tuner in the business.

Suspension and Brakes

The significant increase in power made it incumbent for Olsson to give his Huracán suspension upgrades that would be able to handle 800 horsepower’s worth of performance. So the Swede put in a call to K&W, which in turn supplied his Huracán project with a suspension kit that could accommodate the massive performance boost. Cold-temperature steel brakes round out the upgrades on the Lamborghini, ensuring that the car can still stop on a dime during the winter where Olsson said it’s going to be driven more than any other time of the year.

Prices

The whole cost of the tuning upgrade is unclear because it’s a one-off project that Jon Olsson financed straight out of his own pocket. That said, there is still a cost that comes each new component that was added to the Huracán. The VF Engineering supercharger kit, for example, costs around $33,000. The prices for the other components can be asked by contacting the company that’s offering them.

Competition

Lamborghini Huracán O.CT800 Supercharged by O.CT Tuning

There's really no shortage of tuning programs for the Lamborghini Huracán. Some are subtle to the point of being muted while others, like O.CT Tuning’s “O.CT800 Supercharged” program, are far more boisterous. This particular kit fits into what a performance-hungry, Huracán owner wants from his supercar. It features modifications across the board, most notably a new supercharger unit and a sport exhaust system that pushes the supercar’s output to a whopping 805 horsepower and 597 pound-feet of torque, right around the same vicinity as Olsson’s Huracán. The O.CT kit helps the Lambo propel from a standstill position to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds to go with a top speed that’s staring up to 215 mph.

Conclusion

As I said, Jon Olsson's taste is different from yours or mine. I can understand why some people would think that this is a garish and tawdry excuse of a program. The camouflage body isn't for everyone. I get that. But I have to give it to Olsson for sticking to what he likes and spending the money to get it done. It is after all a personalized program that was designed to suit his style.
