Only a few days ago, McLaren revealed that mad 600LT. Just then I wondered what it would be like to see a “baby” McLaren LT go against a “baby” Lamborghini Performante on the other side of the track. But then, Novitec (FYI - a German tuning company) and its Torado division revealed the Huracan Performante Novitec. It is like a Performante version of the Performante Lamborghini. Maybe an overkill, but Novitec did it so well, I don't even care. I need to see the 600LT race against this now.

Subtle, But Effective Mods

Germany is a Mecca for tuners for all sorts of cars - supercars included. Novitec is one of the best in the field. Improving an already bonkers car involved a whole lot of research and wind-tunnel testing. After all, Novitec did not exactly change the Performante a lot, but it did smartly improve its aerodynamics and sprinkle it with just enough cool details for you to want it even more than the regular Performante. Hmm, the regular Huracan Performante? There is nothing regular about it.

The most notable change is the addition of the new rear wing (spoiler sounds too sluggish here, really). It is a carbon piece designed to improve the downforce and to somehow interact with the rear decklid improving the straight line stability. Stability is a must at 200+ mph. Wings like this are not a big deal with a Toyota Camry. Sorry, not sorry.

At the front end, the Huracan Performante received a special Novitec-designed lip bigger than the one you could find on the regular car. Grrr, again! I have to remember this - the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is not a regular car.

Some of the new pieces, all colored in marble, include the side skirts with the massive side intakes as well. These units complement the whole car rather well as an obvious contrast to that cool orange hue.

The Germans have thrown in new lightweight 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels for good measure too. If you think that the wheels are sitting too close to the fenders, please know that this is not an illusion or a lousy done Photoshop job. New suspension springs dropped the car by additional 1.37 inches. Better watch out not to scrape it. On a cockroach or a grain.

Novitec did really well with the Huracan Performante, but the job is not over yet. See, they are looking for ways to improve on the 5.2-liter, V-10, naturally aspirated engine. When stock, it develops 630 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, which is easily enough for everything, but a 50 or a hundred more wouldn’t hurt.
