If the Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce Jota (SVJ) isn’t rare enough for you, you’ll be happy to know that a 63-unit Aventador SVJ 63 Special Edition is also available from Lamborghini. The rarer Aventador SVJ 63 carries that name as a nod to 1963, the year patriarch Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company. Lamborghini has yet to release the price for the Aventador SVJ 63, but expect it to be heavier on the pockets compared to the $517,770 price tag of the “standard” Aventador SVJ.

What Makes the 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Special?

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 wears the “special edition” label largely because it’s a rare version of what is already a rare model. Only 900 units of the standard Aventador SVJ will be built. Add another 63 units for the Aventador SVJ 63, and we’re only going to see 963 units of the Nurburgring slayer in our lifetime.

By nature of its design, importance, and exclusivity, the Aventador SVJ is already rare in every sense of the word. But the Aventador SVJ 63 is rarer. Much rarer. It’s a fitting ratio, though what you’re going to get exactly from the Aventador SVJ 63 probably doesn’t justify it.

See, the only distinct difference between the Aventador SVJ and the rarer Aventador SVJ 63 is the paint finish and the inclusion of the “63” decal on the latter, referencing its name and the history behind it. Lamborghini says that the Aventador is presented in “a unique configuration” but hasn’t elaborated on what that unique configuration is.

Regardless, don’t think for one second that the Aventador SVJ 63 isn’t worth the amount Lamborghini’s going to ask for it. It’s getting the aerodynamic orgasm that helped propel the SVJ to the top of the Nurburgring production car lap record. That includes the updated Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva 2.0 (ALA), an enhanced version of Lamborghini’s patented active aerodynamics technologies that we first saw on the Huracan Performante.

The ALA 2.0 system manipulates the aero load of the Aventador SVJ 63 to achieve high downforce or low drag depending on specific conditions. The system works through electronically actuated motors that can open or close active flaps in the front splitter and engine hood, channeling air flow in the front and rear sections of the car.

Just as important as the ALA 2.0 system is the car’s engine. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 is powered by the same 6.5-liter V-12 engine that the Aventador SVJ has. The powertrain produces a whopping 770 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque, which is good enough to help the supercar accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 8.6 seconds.

The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 is the embodiment of a special edition car. That’s especially true when you consider that it’s based on a car that’s limited to just 900 units itself. And for what it’s worth, we’re still talking about Lamborghini, a company that doesn’t build models for the sake of volume.

What you see is what you get with the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63. The good news is that what you’re seeing is a car that should be worth whatever Lamborghini asks for it.
