Lanzante’s claim to fame was its restoration work of the McLaren F1 that won the Le Mans in 1995. Lanzante was recently working on creating a road-legal and longtail variant of the McLaren P1 GTR track car; but for this project, they’ve gotten their hands on the icon of the 1970’s and 80’s – The 930 Porsche 911 Turbo; and not just one, 11 of them. What’s the mod, you ask? They will be fitted with TAG-Porsche Formula 1 engines!

Lanzante's Porsche 911 Resto-Mod is one We Can All Get Behind

This isn’t actually the first time a TAG-Porsche F1 engine has found its way into a 911. Now, it will be working on 11 cars which are known for its turbocharged engines and huge spoilers, of course. Many Porsche aficionados choose this vehicle for their DIYs, but this mod by Laznante is turning the 930 batch into crazy beasts. The selected engines are genuine TAG-Porsche engines, from back when F1 used to have 1,000 horsepower turbocharged units. These are 1.5-liter, V-6 engines that have won 26 grand prix victories and three world titles to date, including wins by Alain Prost and Niki Lauda.

These engines are detuned so they can be practically used and be reliable on the road. Since this was no direct fit, Porsche made changes to each of the 911s so that the engines can be cooled. The best part is that the modifications are only under the hood; thus bluffing people of the power these calm-looking cars actually have.

Conclusion

Unfortunately, we don’t have a lot of details on pricing and performance, yet. But we can definitely use the right hemisphere of our brain and imagine how good the car would sound and feel on the tracks! What are your thoughts on this resto-mod? Share them in the comments section below.
