At the 2010 Paris Auto Show, Lotus->ke49 impressed the entire world with a totally revised line-up with a few debuts in the next few years. However, before we actually get a chance to see the second generation Evora launched on the market, the company has announced that a revised version will be launched in 2012. This just so happens to be the year Lotus plans on revealing a convertible version.
While there will be no major changes made to the exterior, the interior will get a completely redesigned cabin and a new version to go along with the newest S trim level. The cabin will be designed by German firm, CSI, who have also engineered cabins for the Audi R8, Mercedes SLS, and Porsche Panamera. The engine will also remain unchanged, but it will be mated to an all-new paddle-shift gearbox.

Exterior and Interior
The current Lotus Evora features a very impressive exterior design, so it's no wonder why Lotus is keeping it mostly unchanged. Expect to see minor updates made to the car's front and headlamps, as well as a new set of wheels, but nothing else.
The biggest changes will of course be made in the interior. Lotus has announced that it will opt for a redesigned cabin done by the German firm, CSI.
The Engine
The standard Evora is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 280 HP at 6400 rpm, while boosting its maximum torque to 342 Nm at 4700 rpm. The engine will be mated to a new paddle-shift gearbox.
The S version will be powered by a supercharged Toyota-sourced 3.5-liter V6 engine that will deliver a total of 350bhp and more than 300lb ft of torque. This means a sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 172mph.

When Can I Buy One?
Expect to see the revised Lotus sometime later this year, with sales to begin in early 2012.
The Competition
The list of competitors for the Lotus Evora is quite big. It includes models like the Porsche Cayman, the Audi TT-S, and the Nissan GT-R->ke1592 among many others. The Cayman is powered by a 2.9-liter flat-six boxer engine that delivers 265 hp (an increase of 20 hp); it can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
The Audi TT-S is powered by a 2-liter TFSI engine, that has now received a larger turbocharger and many additional modifications obtaining a total output of 272 hp (7hp more than the previous model) while the torque remains at 258.15 lb-ft of torque from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. The sprint from 0 to 60mph is made in 5.2 seconds while top speed is limited to 155 mph.
