Aftermarket companies usually pay close attention to performance and aesthetic upgrades when they're building new programs for vehicles. On the rare occasion though, a tuning company eschews all that in favor of security and one firm that has made a good business out of it is Transeco.

Known for its armored vehicles, Transeco is taking a stab at turning the 2014 Mercedes S-Class into a veritable luxury->ke505 fortress on four wheels. The program, which has been dubbed the Transeco S500L, is catered towards VIPs who know that security is paramount to their businesses.

As such, Transeco is acquiescing to these needs, fitting the S-Class->ke359 with a ballistic protection level of 7, enough to withstand everything from a .357 Magnum to an M16 pelleting it with 5.56-by-45 mm rounds.

Laminated glass windows, armored pillars, and underbody protection were also added to beef up the security of the German luxury car while high-performance brakes, a modified suspension setup and run-flat tires were installed to provide performance and handling improvements that ties in well with the security enhancements given to the S-Class.

2014 Mercedes S-Class by Transeco

This is one tough Mercedes S-Class.

The silver arrows emblem was replaced with a Transeco version.

These fortified wheels are wrapped in run-flat tires, which can be driven for over 30 miles at speeds of 50 mph after being punctured.

Even with the high-level security fortification given to this S-Class, the interior is still a picture of luxury.

Cargo space won't be an issue on this S-Class.

2014 Mercedes S-Class

The sales struggle of the Mercedes S-Class was further compounded by the competition coming from BMW and Audi. So Mercedes had one recourse to do and that was to take the S-Class up to the next level.

The new model, as expected, comes with the same design language we have seen in all the recently launched Mercedes models. So the new S-Class has sharper lines, a sportier front fascia, a larger grille, a redesigned rear end, and best of all, a 4.7-liter V-8 engine that produces 456 horsepower and 517 pound-feet of torque, good enough to hit 60 mph in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.
