Mansory is known for some of the most outlandish tuning programs in the business, but it’s also creating quite the reputation for being the creator of one-off programs. The tuner’s latest example of this exclusive tuning prowess was done to the Mercedes-AMG GT S. There’s a lot to cover with this one-off creation, but the most notable upgrade can be found in the AMG GT S’s 4.0-liter turbocharged V-8 engine that Mansory was able to squeeze out a supercar-worthy 730 horsepower, a massive increase from the sports car’s standard output of 510 horsepower.

In addition to the impressive engine upgrade, Mansory also fitted the AMG GT S with the same body kit it introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. There are also plenty of fancy interior details, a new set of wheels, and and a specific ruby red paint scheme on all the carbon fiber parts, as per the request of the man who owns the car, a gentleman who Mansory simply identified as Bandar.

To be clear, this is a different Mercedes than the one Mansory presented in Geneva, even though there are some striking similarities. Think of it as somebody who liked what the tuner presented and asked to have it done to his AMG GT S with a few more additions put in place.

It must be noted that Mansory’s history of one-off creations include past beauties like the Rolls-Royce Wraith “Palm Edition 999” and the Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce J.S.1 Edition. Exterior

By and large, the wide bodykit Mansory gave to Bandar’s AMG GT S is the same as the one it presented in Geneva back in March 2016. The wheel arch extensions and extended side skirts are present, giving the one-off AMG GT S an extra 20 inches in overall width. The kit also includes a new front lip spoiler, a ventilated carbon fiber hood, and a massive rear-end diffuser. Unique to Bandar’s Mercedes is a massive carbon fiber wing, much larger than the version Mansory showcased in Geneva.

The use of the ruby red paint on the carbon fiber parts is also more prevalent on the one-off model and to round things off, the German tuner fitted a new set of 21-inch “7spoke” central lock lightweight wheels that are wrapped in 245/35ZR21 tires at the front and 305/25ZR21 at the back.

Interior

The interior of Bandar’s AMG GT S is almost identical to Mansory’s previous work, which is to say that there aren’t that many exclusive additions. As a refresher, Mansory’s interior program for the AMG GT S is made up of carbon fiber parts painted in the same ruby red finish as the exterior. There’s also plenty of hand-crafted leather and the tuner’s own carbon fabric, not to mention the embroidered logos and the illuminated door sills.

Drivetrain

It’s the same story with the AMG GT S’s 4.0-liter turbocharged V-8 engine. Mansory’s engine upgrade program involves the addition of larger turbochargers and a sports air filter and the installation of a new stainless steel sports exhaust system. The upgrades help the turbo V-8 improve its output to 730 horsepower, a significant amount of extra juices compared to the sports car’s standard output of 503 horses. The result of this upgrade is a 0-to-60-mph sprint time of 3.4 seconds to go with a new top speed of 205 mph.

Pricing

Since this is a one-off creation, I don't expect Mansory to release the pricing figures to the public. Those who find Bandar's AMG GT S interesting are more than welcome to contact the tuner directly in the event they find themselves itching to have a one-off kit created for their sports cars. I should say though that projects like this tend to cost more than just buying the program entirely.

Competition

Mercedes-AMG GT S by Lorinser

Bandar’s Mercedes-AMG GT S may be a one-off program, but considering that it shares a lot of similarities with Mansory’s “standard” kit for the sports car, it’s still important to see where the program stacks up compared to other tuning firm's. One such company that just recently presented its AMG GT S kit is Lorinser. It doesn’t have any exterior and interior upgrades, but it does have a nice engine modification kit that helps the car’s turbocharged V-8 increase its output to 595 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to propel the AMG GT S from a standstill to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and to 124 mph in 10.1 seconds. Likewise, the Lorinser-tuned AMG GT S can hit 186 mph in 27.3 seconds.

Mercedes-AMG GT S Startrack 6.3 By Wheelsandmore

Wheelsandmore followed Lorinser’s tuning formula by focusing solely on the AMG GT S’s V-8 engine. In this case, the German tuner added sport-tuned, 100-cell catalytic converters; an optimized sports air filters; and a new valve-controlled exhaust system that replaced the rear mufflers. A remapped ECU unit is also included, giving the sports car a new output of 590 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Wheelsandmore didn’t cite the new performance numbers, but somewhere similar to Lorinser’s program could be in the cards. Expect the 0-to-62 mph sprint to happen in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph.

Conclusion

There are some things about this program that I can appreciate. The 730-horsepower output is very nice to see, but the cosmetic changes on the exterior and interior could have been done differently, or at least differently from the program Mansory showcased in Geneva. The massive rear wing does look nice and the ruby red paint on the carbon fiber parts is a unique addition. I just don't like how the two colors combine together because it looks weird. And the interior? I believe Mansory could've done more with that. But at the end of the day, Mansory built exactly what its customer wanted.
