Stashed just next to the Goodyear stand at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the Eadon Green exhibition space featured quite a unique car - the all-new Eadon Green ZRR. If you are at all into what Eadon Green is doing since it "fired up" 3 years ago, then you will probably mistake the new ZRR with the Zanturi. Well, this is a new car. Sure, it is similar to the Zanturi, but according to the words of Eaton Felix, Eadon Green CEO, ZRR is new nonetheless.

It brings a breeze of sophistication to the brand whose first car was a flashy coupe based on the Corvette C7 and painted in an awful chameleon paint job. This one, same as the Zanturi, rides on the Rolls Royce Wraith chassis, has a far more palatable color scheme compared to Corvette-based Zeclat, and it has a proper V-12 under the front bonnet. It also has proper front lights. From Rolls-Royce!

It can also see at night with its sensors and infrared cameras! Just like Rolls-Royce!

Eadon Green is a boutique car manufacturer, and the ZRR is its greatest achievement. Having all the tech from someone as competent as the Rolls-Royce is a good thing. Especially on a car that tries really hard to capture the svelte beauty of the nobility cars from the Thirties. Like Delahayes and Talbot Lago’s.

Exterior

Well, I have already told you what the ZRR tries to look like. I saw it in person and believe me that I did not get that fuzzy feeling I usually get when I see cars from the Thirties. Luck would have it, I have seen a bunch of them.

The ZRR does look, what you’d call, cool. Surprising even. When I figured just how much it shares with the Wraith I completely lost my interest in it. I mean, it must be expensive for the end buyer, but I just don't see the exclusivity.

For the untrained eye, however, the Eadon Green ZRR could look refreshing in some strange way. After all, it is distinctive with the arches that head down towards the rear, pointy rear end with vertical taillights, and a chubbier body compared to Rolls Royce Wraith on which is it based.

The ZRR is a polarizing creature. No question there.

As it turns out, Eadon Green created it with the help of the Envisage Group. It is a company from Coventry, “focused on creating beautifully bespoke, perfectly engineered vehicles, and products.” While the Envisage Group offers a full set of design and engineering solutions, it may be that they have actually designed the car and just adopted new forms to fit the Wraith architecture. For the least money possible, of course.

I am still a bit lost on how the ZRR differs from the Zanturi. Yet, look at the rear license place. It is the ZRR.

Interior

Following what we have seen with the Zanturi, it would seem that Eadon Green simply left the Rolls Royce interior inside the ZRR as well. No, we have not seen the ZRR's interior. However, the Wraith's interior is a work of art. It indeed is, especially with that incredible night sky with the stars, thick slabs of bespoke leather and wood, and rich wool in the footwells. The thing is that Eadon Green, apparently, offers many personalization options for it. Not only on the exterior but in the interior as well. And that gets me a bit upset. How, for the love of anything holy, can anyone create better interior features than Rolls-Royce?

I don’t think that’s exactly possible, but let’s give Eadon Green and its enthusiastic CEO, Eaton Felix the benefit of the doubt.

A far more important fact is that the ZRR inherited all the tech from the Rolls-Royce Wraith. That means it is easily one of the most advanced cars on the earth with systems like Night vision, head-up display, navigation-aided transmission, and bespoke audio systems. All accessed via the state of the art infotainment system.

Drivetrain

As a four-seat grand touring coupe, the Eadon Green ZRR took over the best possible internals available. As per Eadon Green's official site, the drivetrain of the ZRR is entirely the same as that of the Rolls-Royce Wraith. Before you go and zoom through the long table I prepared for you, let me tell you that the Wraith’s architecture is the same as in the 7 series. So, it is good, but not as bespoke as some, from the milieu Eadon Green wants to play in, may like. Back in the day when it revealed the Wraith, Rolls-Royce wrote:

“The car’s suspension has also been tuned to minimise body roll and discreetly amplify feedback when cornering, while steering weight is heavier at high speeds and lighter at low speeds adding to the spirited drive.”

You should not be bored behind the wheel then. How could you, when under the bonnet sits a 6.6-liter, V-12 engine with close to 600 horsepower? True, all that power needs to fight with the incredible weight of 5,643 pounds: Yup, more than the Continental GT.

Pricing

Eadon Green presented the Black Cullin coupe back in 2017. In Geneva! While talking with journalists, Eaton Felix, Eadon Green CEO noted that the price of the car directly corresponds with the number of orders.

“In terms of pricing, it’s basically the tooling and the building costs, divided by the number of customers. So, if we did 25 cars, probably £550,000. If we built five cars, a million. And somebody may pay a million. We have customers, one in Geneva, one in Canada who are waiting and want to pay two million for a Black Cuillin.”

He was not speaking here about the ZRR, but I think that even today the same analogy stands.

Competition

Disco Volante by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera

No, this is not a real Grand Touring car like the ZRR, but the Disco Volante by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera is an exclusive, unique car that sums up all the qualities potential buyers of the Eadon Green may respect. First of all, it is based on top of the best car ever - the Alfa 8C. Second of all, Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera has a heritage some car companies cannot match. Last of all, it is produced, and it is on the road. With a price in excess of $500,000, that is.

Eadon Green lacks the heritage and, for now, it even lacks the car.

Bentley Continental GT

The Bentley Continental GT is a perfect competitor to the Eadon Green ZRR. It is such a well-balanced car that I don’t think that Eadon Green would make a mistake if it based the ZRR and the Zanturi on it. Ok, the Continental GT lacks that ultimate x-factor, the ZRR has, but, on the other hand, it is quicker, equally advance, and available with a W-12.

And yes, it is probably considerably cheaper.

Final Thoughts

The Eadon Green ZRR is still more of an idea than a real car. Just as all other Eadon Green cars. However, as a reworked Wraith, that is one of the best luxurious coupes in the world, the appeal for the Eadon Green ZRR must be evident. While designers wanted to catch the flamboyance of the Thirties with its exterior design, I am afraid that it lacks a heritage and competency to pull it off. Nevertheless, it does look exciting, even fantastic. Moreso than any Eadon Green car up until this moment.
