When it comes to tuning->ke1987 Porsches, we have plenty of specialists ready to meddle with the looks and the engines of any sports car and SUV->ke145 currently offered by the Germans. Then we have DP Motorsport, a small company that takes the art of modifying Porsches to a whole new level. If you're not familiar with the name, then you should know that most of its products bring together classic Porsche->ke1 bodies and modern underpinnings. And its newest creation, the DP 964 Classic S, is no exception.

Don't let the 911->ke282 in the photo above fool you, underneath that gorgeous classic body lies a more modern chassis, while the rear bonnet can host newer flat-six engines. As the name suggests, the base of this project is a 964-generation Porsche 911, which was manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. But that's not all. This intriguing "hybrid" was brought to life using a bevy of state-of-the-art technology, racing gear, and enough enthusiasm to turn a road-going 964 into an authentic, track-prepped Porsche 911.

Porsche DP 964 Classic S by DP Motorsport in detail

Stripped of its early 1990s body, the 964 chassis received a 1973 Porsche 911 shell, probably the sexiest 911 classic body ever produced. But DP Motorsport didn't stop there, as it enhanced the car's aerodynamics by means of a lightweight, fiberglass kit that includes a revised front apron. Finished in a classic Lime Green and fitted with a matte-black bonnet, the body is now adorned by a competition livery with white dots waiting to receive their race number. If lime green doesn't tickle your fancy, DP Motorsport also offers Light Yellow, Blood Orange and Classic Gray paint options.

Once inside, customers will buckle up using the four-point safety belt that comes with the classic sports seats and grab a hold of the Momo-type steering wheel. Just like in the good-old days when these Porsches were roaming the tracks. Another cool feature added to the Porsche's cabin is the rpm gauge painted in the same color as the exterior. Lime Green on this example, the rev counter can become either yellow, orange or gray.

Moving under the rear bonnet, DP Motorsport has two engines on offer. First up is a 3.6-liter flat-six rated at 290 horsepower, while the second mill displaces 3.8 liters and generates 330 raging ponies. The company doesn't offer additional details as to where these engine were sourced from, but our guess is the 3.6 comes from the 964, while the 3.8 is from a newer 911. Either way, both units are ready to send a lot of oomph to the pavement. Updates continue beyond the engine bay with nine-fold, adjustable coilovers from Bilstein and lightweight Fuchs wheels wrapped in performance tires. Let the racing begin!
