If you ever fancy a tinge of personalization on your new Porsche,->ke1 the German automaker is offering such a venue for you to do that with Porsche Exclusive. As Porsche’s very own in-house custom manufacturing department, Porsche Exclusive can give Porsche customers the ability to control the design of their models from the choice of exterior colors all the way to interior packages and color trims.

The department’s latest release, the 2015 Cayman S Racing Yellow, is proof that Porsche knows a thing or two about appeasing the demands of its customers. The ostentatious yellow finish on this particular Cayman S may not be to everyone’s liking, but that’s the beauty of Porsche Exclusive. You can replace the Racing Yellow finish with something a little more subdued like the Agate Grey Metallic finish we saw on a 2014 Cayman back in September 2014. Or you can go completely off-script and go with something more appealing to the eyes like a Lime Gold Metallic finish we saw on a Porsche 911 Turbo in February 2014.

Whatever colors you choose for your Porsche, the German automaker’s Exclusive department will gladly accommodate your requests to create an identifiable customization program that fits your overall personality. That's more than what some other automakers can say for themselves.

Exterior

Porsche Exclusive’s latest pièce de résistance is this impressively dressed Cayman S and its fancy Racing Yellow paint finish. It’s worth noting that the Cayman S Agate Grey Metallic, which was introduced in September 2014, used the same color as a complement to the metallic-grey body of the sports car.

Now the Racing Yellow paint gets the splashy headline, bringing a jolt of life to the Cayman S that highlights the sports car’s sporty appeal. The model also received Porsche’s optional SportDesign package and the accompanying goodies that make up the pack, including black rear side air intake grilles, side mirror lower trims, smoked taillights, and a dual sports exhaust system.

Interior

The predominantly black interior has Racing Yellow splashes spread throughout the cabin of the Cayman S. There’s really not a lot going on in there, other than the distinctive hue being applied onto the instrument dials, the A/C vents, the center console, and the Sport Chrono watch located between the aforementioned vents.

It probably would've been nicer if Porsche used the same Racing Yellow trim on the sports seats, or at least used it as contrast stitching. But we're not complaining about what is and what isn't there. If you're a customer and you want this exact personalization on the Cayman S, you can tell Porsche to add the yellow trim and it'll do it without any hesitation.

Drivetrain

Porsche Exclusive doesn't dabble on any engine enhancements so expect to see the Cayman S use a 3.4-liter, flat-six engine that produces 325 horsepower and 272 pound-feet of torque. Power is directed to the rear wheels by a six-speed manual gearbox with an option to upgrade to a seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox.

With the standard six-speed manual, the Cayman S is capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds with the PDK gearbox slashing one-tenth of a second off of that time. Finally, the Cayman S can hit a top speed of 175 mph, 10 mph faster than the standard Cayman.

Prices

It’s unclear how much you’re going to have to add to get this specific personalized touch. That said, pricing for the 2014 Porsche Cayman begins at $52,600 and hits $63,800 for the Cayman S.

BMW M4 Individual

BMW is another automaker that's gone all-in on vehicle customization. It's Individual program has been particularly trigger-happy with the BMW 4 Series and its high-powered counterpart, the M4. In fact, BMW introduced the M4 Individual at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, a little over a month after the 4 Series and M4 made their respective world debuts.

Like Porsche’s Exclusive program, BMW Individual offers a smorgasbord of exterior and interior options like the Mineral White body that was displayed at Detroit in January 2014. The same model also featured a brown interior finish with high-quality wood trims and seats wrapped in cinnamon leather.

The BMW M4 is powered by a 3.0-liter, inline-six cylinder engine that pumps out 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. These numbers allow the M4 to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, almost a second quicker than the Porsche Cayman S.

That said, the M4’s electronically limited top speed of 155 mph is paces behind the Porsche sports car’s top speed of 175 mph.

Conclusion

The Racing Yellow Cayman S is definitely a head-turner in a lot of ways. But Porsche Exclusive doesn't limit itself to just this color. You can look at what the personalization program is offering and you'll probably drown yourself in all the selections that it offers.

The real value of personalization programs like Porsche Exclusive lies in the freedom it gives Porsche customers to design their own models based on their preferences. It may be Racing Yellow, Agate Grey Metallic, or even the luscious Turbo Lime Gold finish we first saw on the 911 Turbo.

If you want your Porsche Cayman S to exude your personality, a quick call to Porsche Exclusive will go along way in accomplishing that.
