In the good tradition of the German tuning scene, German tuner Manhart reached out to all four astounding Germanic manufacturers whose cars it is modifying. I am writing here about the likes of Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche. The last car Manhart put its magical touches on is a Porsche 911 Turbo. As Manhart usually focuses on tuning Audi, BMW, and Mercedes, the company revealing this Porsche project is quite surprising. Nevertheless, Manhart made it worthwhile. The new car is simply astounding.

Manhart Turbo 911 Engine

As we all know, the Porsche 911 Turbo has one of the maddest engines out there. In its stock iteration, Porsche squeezed 640 horsepower out of it. Yup, all in an effort to catch predators like the GT-R and match competitors like the Ferrari 458 Italia and the Lamborghini Huracan. The relatively small 3.8-liter, six-cylinder is freakishly powerful, but Manhart decided to add a bit more zest to it. Luckily, the Germans did not have to do much in terms of hardware changes. Instead, Manhart remapped the ECU to release a bit more oomph. The only hardware change we may even consider adding here is the integration of a free flowing exhaust. Well, at least it is less restricted than the one on the stock car.

Changes like this made the Manhart Turbo 911 quite special. The torque is a far more interesting number here as Manhart managed to create a 911 Turbo that has 90 pound-feet more compared to even the maddest 700-horsepower powerful 911 GT RS.

The performance got a bump thanks to this added grunt. Not by much, though. Now, a number like this does not actually showcase the real performance figures of a car like this. On a good day, even the stock 911 Turbo gets to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds. Even quicker. This one, by Manhart, I am sure can do the deed in a tenth or so less time. I remember when Motor Trend tested the 911 Turbo S sometime in 2014 or 2015 and it cloaked a 0-60 mph time in 2.6 seconds. And that car had less than 600 horsepower. So, conservatively, the Porsche by Manhart is destined to do this 62 mph run at least as fast as that one. I am sure of it.

Exterior Worthy Of the Manhart Name

Anyone familiar with Manhart's work will instantly recognize the paint scheme, exterior decals, and the subtle, yet, effective body kit on this particular Porsche 911 Turbo. The new ones measure 21 inches in diameter and are called Techart Formula IV. Yup, another German tuner Techart is responsible for its creation. Golden details on the Black paint scheme looks striking and somehow does not overwhelm the whole look of the Turbo S. Instead, I feel accents like these give it a sort of flamboyant character. Sure, a lowering kit that dropped the Turbo S 1-2 inches closer to the ground has something to do with the final look of the car as well. It made the 911 Turbo a tad more special. Ever so slightly different compared with the stock version.

Conclusion

Tuners that made their living tuning cars from the German premium trio now ventured out into the wilderness of supercar producers. Manhart's work on the Porsche 911 Turbo is only the tip of the iceberg. In fact, the company is already pushing out kits, exhaust systems, and comprehensive tuning kits for Lamborghini, McLaren, and Bentley. However, the 911 Turbo S with 680 horsepower and ridiculously quick acceleration is something to be proud about. I’d really like to try this thing out. Not even on the track, but on a straight road instead. It's a rollercoaster of a car for sure.
