The Rolls Royce Ghost was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and since then, it received no major updates. However, it looks like parent company, BMW->ke178, has decided it is time for a small update. And when we say “small,” we really mean it.

As you can see, this prototype is wearing little camouflage and what it is wearing it only on the parts that are going to be updated. Expect to see new headlamps and a revised front bumper with a design inspired by the recently revealed Wraith. The exterior mirrors also seem to have received a new shape.

On the rear, the exhaust tailpipes are now hidden, giving it a cleaner look.

For the interior, Rolls Royce->ke74 will offer an updated sat-nav and infotainment system.

We expect some smaller changes under the hood too, most likely in order to obtain more power and less CO2 emissions.

Updates for the new Ghost will be kept to a minimum and will attempt to make the car a little bit more modern. It will receive a new set of headlamps and a revised front bumper that is inspired by the new Wraith. Also expect to see a set of revised side-view mirrors.

For the rear, the only updates we see in the spy shots are those hidden exhaust pipes.

History

The current-generation Rolls Royce Ghost was previewed by the 200EX Concept car which was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, then a few months later a production version arrived at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The Ghost is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V-12 engine that delivers a total of 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. With this amount of power, the Ghost can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and to goes up to a top speed that is electronically limited to 155 mph.

The only update the Ghost received was an extended wheelbase version unveiled at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show.
