No matter how big Rolls-Royce’s model expansion gets, the Phantom has always and will continue to remain its flagship model. It’s a status that the luxury sedan has had for almost 100 years, or at least since the first Phantom broke into the auto scene back in 1925. There’s no escaping the fact that the Phantom model is largely credited for Rolls-Royce remaining at the top its game almost a hundred years, so much so that when a new collection of one-off models like the Wisdom Limited Collection arrives, the Phantom enjoys top billing. Such is the case with the Rolls-Royce Phantom Inspired by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The British luxury brand refers to it as the “crown” of Rolls-Royce Abu Dhabi’s Wisdom Collection, and once you see what the one-off model comes with, there’ll be no denying its place among the seven one-offs that make up the whole collection.

The Phantom Inspired by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is heavily inspired by the famous mosque, which is considered to be the biggest and important place of worship in Abu Dhabi. The details that Rolls-Royce Bespoke gave to underscore the mosque’s importance is evident in the luxury sedan. From the two-tone body finish of the Phantom to the elaborate work on the interior, the features that Rolls-Royce Bespoke added into the one-off Phantom speak highly of the importance of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the scheme of Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural and religious history.

What makes the Rolls-Royce Phantom Inspired by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque so special?

For those who aren’t familiar with the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, there are a number of interesting facts about the place that provides reasons why Rolls-Royce Bespoke chose it as the inspiration for the one-off Phantom it built as part of Rolls-Royce Abu Dhabi’s Wisdom Limited Collection. The mosque itself is named after United Arab Emirates founder and first president president Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away in 2004 before he could see the mosque’s completion. To this day, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is regarded as the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world.

Suffice to say, the mosque is one of the crown jewels of Abu Dhabi. Fittingly, so is the Phantom to Rolls-Royce. Put the two together and you get this beautiful one-off creation from Rolls-Royce Bespoke that showcases some of the prominent features of the mosque into the luxury sedan. We get to see that right away in the two-tone Arctic White and Tuscan Sun exterior of the Phantom. The choice of white and gold as the dominant colors of the one-off Phantom is directly related to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque since it makes use of the exact same two colors. In fact, the use of gold on the body of the Phantom wasn’t limited to the hood, roof, and trunk. Even Rolls-Royce’s own iconic Spirit of Ecstacy ornament was given the gold treatment. Just goes to show how grandiose the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque really is.

From there, we go to the lavish, all-white interior of the Phantom. While it’s not technically all-white (there are gold trims and stitching scattered throughout the whole cabin), Rolls-Royce Bespoke created it to make it look as much, hence the authentic fear of getting it dirty is magnified exponentially. Intricate details are also scattered throughout the cabin, including gold and silver flower patterns on the dashboard and doors of the car, the mother-of-pearl that neatly adorns the control knobs and clock, and the singular pièce de résistance of the whole Wisdom Collection: the Phantom’s headliner.

What you see when you look from inside the Rolls-Royce Phantom Inspired by Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque isn’t your typical leather or Alcantara headliner. That’s an intricate embroidery that reflects the botanical motif of the mosque. More incredibly, that headliner was created using 15 different colors that were applied in 392,248 individual stitches. Wrap your head around those figures for a second. Incredible, right? The numbers get better though as designers and craftspeople from Rolls-Royce Bespoke spent over hours working on the thing, completing it in 57 different stages. That headliner alone makes the Phantom Inspired by Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque one of the most sought-after one-off creations to ever come out of Rolls-Royce Bespoke. The hype is real as far as this particular one-off Phantom is concerned.

Nothing has changed though on the side of the engine, which is to be expected anyway. In the absence of any upgrades, the Phantom Inspired by Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque still makes use of Rolls-Royce’s 6.75-liter V-12 engine that itself produces 453 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. Those numbers translate to a luxury sedan that can cover 0 to 60 mph in just 5.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 150 mph.

For its part, Rolls-Royce Abu Dhabi has given no indication on its plans for the Phantom Inspired by Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the six other one-offs that make up the Wisdom Limited Collection. Given the rarity and the level of craftsmanship that went into building each of these seven models, it wouldn’t be surprising to see all of them hit the auction block soon. Who knows, maybe all seven models end up finding just one owner.
